Got a savage x f4.6 here and I'm resetting all my carb setting back fo factort because i want to retune my engine. I never run with the top on(find it to be a pain in the butt) and was wondering what temp i should be around? And this means a good 10 mins or so of rippin. I dont think iv ever seen my temp past 230f or so.

dont mean to highjack a thread...... but do you check the temp right after a run or while its on a stand and idleing? i've done it both ways and usually while on a stand and idleing its perfect but after a couple of runs and i check again its way up there. sorry about not starting another thread but since this is the same subject.

The engine is going to run hotter under load no matter what, it normally cools down during the idle or low throttle periods, such as in corners or sitting. If your temps run higher when at idle is when you have a problem, I normally check mine after a couple good laps or straight runs, but its normally only been at idle for about 5 seconds. 230 is a good temp, My Axial runs at a solid 255 which some would call hot, but it runs good and isn't too lean. All engines are going to be different at what temp they like to run at, and every now and then you get the oddball that runs fine at 300, but usually 230-270 is perfectly fine.

I like to run mine between 220 and 240 with the body on.

I like to check mine after a run, so I can see what it is running under a load.
