VW camper bus

Did anybody have one? Did U like it or disspise (SP) it. Just wondering theres one kind of cheep near me and I though it would be a cool car.

I have nightmares of them. Really bad memories from my childhood in them breaking down on the side of the road.

I have an uncle who used to have one. I don't think it had the raisable roof for sleeping though. All I can remember from that VW was that it was a bitch with crosswinds (skinny tires) and very underpowered. Cool retro factor says nothing for the headaches he had in upkeep and repairs. I think he sold it to a junkyard for scrap.

they are great vans... They may break down some but you can fix it with a piece of string and a hammer. I say go for it, they are real easy work on and have a real cool retro factor.

I have seen a couple of vw campers at the dropzone I skydive at. It had an expandable roof that could sleep 2 adults inside the compartment. I thought it was pretty cool feature to have being that skydivers usually live in tents during skydiving boogies.

Cool well thanks for the feedback iam looking at a pop top camper. Kenmo the comment u made about about the string and hammer reminds me about the quick fix my dad did to his bug the throttle cable broke and he fixed it with a paper clip and well it worked till he sold it.
