Very stupid question: how to get fuel in carb?

Ok,

Probably the biggest newb question of 2005 but... Here goes: I built my MT2 18SS, thing looks great... now I come to the phase where it says 'launch the engine' with a nice piccie explaining to 'prime the fuel by pushing the pump on the fuel tank so no air bubbles are in the fuel line' (I can still follow this) but then... O NO? THERE IS NO PUMP???
How can I get fuel and NO air bubbles through the line without a pumpin thingie? HELP!? Am I missing something??? My fuel tank has no highly advanced pre-2005 pumping thingie!?

Please help as I want to launch the 18SS tonight ;)

Sorry if this is a stupid question but erm I really don't see how I can do this :(

Cheers,

Dom

If you cover the end of your pipe and turn the motor over it will suck the gas into the carb. I have also pulled the vacume tube of the pipe and blown on it and it will push the fuel to the carb

It's routine to prime the carb by putting your finger over the exhaust outlet while spinning the engine. You can see the fuel go through the line till it reaches the carb. Once it gets to the carb, don't prime it any more or you can flood it.
If the air cleaner is off, you can also prime it by putting your finger over the carb throat while spinning the engine.
Any time you run out of fuel you'll have to reprime after refueling.

Or you can take the fuel line off of the exhaust, open the throttle, and blow into it. Works all the time! I used that method a lot, until i installed the mgt primer bulb on all my rc's!!

What's a mgr primer bulb?

Sorry to sound like a dumb sh_t but what is a mgr primer bulb? how does it work? and where can I get one? I really could use a better priming system on myOS cv-r powered RC10-GT because its very hard to see the fuel actually moving towards the carb with the body on the chassis.

I once tried getting this thing called a solder sucker (Radio Shack). It is a rubber suction bulb used to suck off molten solder when removing soldered components. I removed the nylon tip so the end would better fit over the stinger. One gentle squeeze would very effectively pressurize the fuel tank and force the fuel up to the carb. I had gotten side tracked with other stuff so I haven't field tested this. It was very easy to flood the engine. :2cents:

ya i can tell that I'm primed by sound, the engine starts to seem to speed up a lil bit with the electric start, then i take my finger off the pipe and it starts right up.

Just use your finger over the exhaust. Those prime bulbs will leak and cause you engine to run lean.

I just put my finger over the exhaust and pull my pull start a couple of times. I used to just take the fuel line off the exhaust and blow, until I had a couple of bad experiences. (Blew to hard, fuel comes back out your end  )
