Ok well the last 2 days I've been doing some pretty hard bashing with it only had it for about 5 and I'm loving it so far aside from a few minor things.

1. doesn't seem like its getting to the max RPM's and can't lean it any more becuase it boarder line with 300deg. I just replaced the fuel lines see what that does when i got out. And I'm going to check the carb for leaks tonight.

2. I guess because of the first problem it seems a lil slower than it should so i ordered a RRP 52/14 spur and CB combe from tower along with the parts to do a 4 spider diff mod.

Thats about all i dont like about the savage so far its holding up VERY well the only thing is i popped my turnbuckle off 2-3 times but thats no biggy. I'm glad i decided to go for the savage my MAXX was starting to be a nightmare LOL

The extra weight from the steel spur may hinder performance some. I know it does on my maxx, so I run plastic. I have a $30 maxx spur sitting in a drawer that I probably won't ever use again. Although, the 14cb should help conteract this for you.

I was just out bashing and i was thinking about the gears i ordered did i order the wrong ones if i want to go faster or am i correct with the ones i bought. Oh and good thing i ordered the parts for the diff mod because i just blew my front one LOL

I can't remember what stock is. I think it's 52/14. So, no, I don't think your going to see any more speed. Check your current gears. I think you just replaced what you have with the steel equivalent.

i belive the stock gearing is 49/15 so would that mean the 52/14 will increase my top speed?

No, the fewer teeth on a clutch bell will give you more torque, as will more teeth on the spur. Fewer teeth on the spur, and more teeth on the clutch bell will both give you more top speed.

ok so i would want the 48/16 correct?

And also i just got done disassembling my diff and i cracked a spider gear right in half wich i guess caused the cross pin to shift and ruined the diff case and the other spider gear was stripped out and I've only had it 5 days LOL.

I got my order cancled from tower so ill reorder the diff mod parts along with a case spur/CB combo and a few other things i need.

If your engine is just broken in you may just need to wait a while like I did. The S25 starts to gain HP after a half gallon or so like most larger engines. I had to make some minor carb adjustments after several tanks and now it runs great.

You know the engine in my savage 21 I thought was just alittle doggy for me. Turns out even though I had driven the hell out of it, and it was used before I got it. It just wasn't broken in enough.

After about 1/2 gallonit realy woke up havent looked back since

i was using the 15-49 combo then i went to a 16/49 which i found to be the best, now i have the 16/48 steel combo which is ok but the 49 is better more low end,for some reason i use plastic spur with the hardened c/b stripped in like 1 min the mesh was correct but I'm going to try the 49 plastic again...i have a 49 steel on the way...

If your savage is new and you already blew a diff, you may want to check the adjustment on the brakes and make sure they aren't locking up. If they are locking up and you leave it that way, after you do the diff mod--the bevel gear will be next. I can speak from experience on this one. I blew my front diff, did the mod, and then proceeded to toast 2 bevel gears before coming to my senses and readjusted my brakes so they don't lock.
