And why did they (seemingly) deliberately run aground a 10,000 long ton ocean liner?

It's a scrapping yard for ships, notice the one to the right of it has already been cut up pretty good. There was another video the other day showing how dangerous of a job this was also.

It was a ferry that spent 20 years crossing the English Channel. The scrap yard is in Turkey and that's the way they keep them from floating off.
Wow, can you imagine getting paid to drive big ships onto the beach? Wow, what a blast that would be.
