my O.S V-spec is at exactly one gallon of fuel right now, and i have it torn down for inspection and cleaning. I've read online that a few people have had problems with premature bearing failure, some as early as one gallon. most people just throw in a set of boca or nova bearings before or after that happens, and all is good. I'm wondering if other v-spec owners have heard/had any of these bearing problems, and if you guys have changed out your stock O.S. bearings in your V-specs. thx

I've also heard a few stories of the bearing blowing out and tearing up your engine. Since you have your engine apart i would deffinatly replace the bearings with some boca ones. I mean if anything its cheap insurence for a $300 engine.

thats true about insurance. i found some bocas over at a-main thatll cost me about 35$ front and rear. the nova rear bearings are 44 or something dollers! i really love everything about this engine, just sucks i can't trust the bearings in it for fear of blowing everything else in my engine if one was to fail.

i have this engine and also have about 1 gallon through it. i have had no problems. i paid 280 for the motor and i am not replacing the bearings after paying almost 300. if they go i will send it back for warranty if this is a problem they should fix it. if they wont i just wont buy another os motor and advise other peeps not to do so as well but I have had no problems to date and I love the motor.
The following is straight from Tower under their description for the V-Spec.....

******* It is NOT covered by the O.S. 2 Year Warranty.******
Now does this mean there is no warranty at all. If so, that would be BS. They should stand behind their product.
My new V-Spec should be in my hands by Thursday. I do not plan on changing out bearings on a brand new engine.

i heard of people sending their fairly new motors back with the bearing problem and they took care of it.

yes there is a problem, but its hit or miss. i have 2 gallons on mine, with no problems.
i didnt bother trying to send mine back for any kind of warranty work due to their claim of being a race engine and all that. another reason was how they handled (more like ignored) the last vz-b that had obvious premature wear problems. ill just let that one be my last o.s. mill ever. I'm done with 'em.
