Yeah so it started off nicely. I got my Revo 2.5 all used and broken in (Tires still squeaked and got for $250! SCORE!). After one blown engine I got two Nitro Rustler 2.5's for $50 each (No controller but still a steal) and took a engine off one and put it on my Revo. So I have two cars and spent a total of $500 for gas (2x 1gal 33%) and all my replacement parts I've ever bought.

Now when I take my Revo off a jump (Do this alot) when it hits the ground it just dies (Probably that throttle pin to loose). Anyway I've had enough with all these problems and it's time to have some fun!

I have a fairly stock Revo 2.5 with a few customizations (Rollcage, Wiring, body post etc..). I just want what's best and to get it all at once. I'm going to start racing soon so I need some performance parts strong enough to go through with some bashing too.

I also was wondering what I can do to my transmission to deal with the high rpms. Is there anything I can do to change my final gear ratio for a better top speed and good acceleration off the line? Or can you only have better low end or better top end? Should I get wide wheel base A-Arms (Car flips over constantly) the 3.3 style?

Anyway these are the parts I have so far, feel free to add on to my list, I don't want to go over $350.

Current Cost: $294.36 (Have a $15 rebate from their magazine) Not included
1.) O.S. .18TM Revo w/11K Slide Carb & Manifold
2.) Motor Saver Air Filter 2.5 Revo/T-Maxx
3.) Trinity Revo Hi-Flow Super Pipe
4.) Traxxas Fuel Line 1'
5.) Axial Wicked Retro 5-Spoke MT Wheel Black x2 (Cracked old rims)
6.) Hobbico Hot-Shot 2 Standard
7.) Golden Horizons Aluminum Rear Body Post Blue Revo
8.) Golden Horizons Aluminum Front Body Post Blue Revo
9.) Traxxas Gear Set 2-Speed Wide Ratio Revo

If you can, please find parts at Tower Hobbies.

Thanks for all your help!

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHWU0&P=ML i would use this air filter if i were you i really like it as do many others.. you will love that 18tm and with 20% its have amazing power i used mc-59 glow plugs with 20% fuel and i would highly suggest doing the same(but do what you think is right)

oh and your going to want this engine:http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHLV8&P=ML it is made for the revo the one you linked is made for T-Maxx.

i would suggest ditching the ez start ad going with a pull start and a glow plug ignighter such as this:http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXME72&P=ML but even if you want to keep the EZ start i would still get the ignighter for easier starts.

for A arms.. i would use RPM if you want strong!

And as for the acceleration and top speed wait until you get the os 18tm and trinity pipe hold on tight and then decide..

You don't suggest 33%? I just bought a whole new tank of 33% so I plan on using it ha.

Thanks for the links for engine, figures that i'd choose the one for a T-maxx.. That trinity pipe I chose is good right, I hear it adds on to low end power?

I'll be bashing mostly so I just need something quick and definitely reliable. Anyone got links to extended arms, Non aluminum?

About the pull start, I do have one from my old 2.5 engine off one of my Rustlers, are they a pain to use? Or do you think they are definitely worth it since it would lighten up the load and confusion by removing wires/bulkiness.

Thanks.

I believe there's a wide ratio two speed set. I think the difference between first and second is a larger gap, but I don't know if first is still the same, I think it is. With first being the same and a larger gap from first to second, it would give you good power off the line and have more top speed than stock.

Just my guess though. I've always ran the stock gearing.

From what I've read, guys who race like to use the close ratio gears vs wide ratio or stock. The close ratio gears allow it to peak out quicker for top speed, but helps with tight tracks.

The trinity pipe is supposed to be a good pipe, but loud.

I would second the RPM arms. They're almost indestructible and they're cheap. They run about $15 a corner.

I hope you didnt order yet, because that fule filter is the BIGGEST waist of money you can buy. I have one of those(or had a duratrash one) and it was jacked up somehow, took it back got another one same deal. There are better ones on the market just dont get that one. Also if your looking to race you might want to get a Vantage wing with the tekno wing mount that comes included now, there pretty sweet. Hope this helps a little.

Thanks Bryson for the input, I thought that having wire mesh in the gas line would affect something.

Anyone have links to those RPM extended A-Arms? Do you think $60 on stability is worth it?

Where can I find these wide ratio gearing sets? Are they cheap?

Well what does what?

Wide - High top speed?
Close - High low end?

If you ever went on AIM things would be easier ;).

When I run at the track I use the standard ratio second gear. I feel as if it the best well rounded. The wide ratio that comes stock in the 3.3 is to wide for tight tracks and dosnet give you enough bottom end.

If it's like I thought, I explained it up above.

Wide will give you higher top speed than standard and close will give you lower top speed than standard.

I thought the wide, close, standard all had the same first gear ratio? Isn't it just the second gear ratio that is changed?

I guess but I feel that with the standard i get better pop for a shorter track. Close is to close and wide is just to wide unless you have a big track or are bashing.

Bryson

Well I do alot of bashing so I guess I'll go with wide. The track I'll be at has two huge stretches so this should be great.
