New to NITRO! What do you recommend for the new 2.5 t maxx to upgrade the exhaust muffler and the cyl. head. Heard good things about Ritter for the exhaust???? .....not much on the Cyl Head??? Alot to look at all the different sites. Naturally traxxas says no mods needed. I tend to believe that all you nitro runners have experienced differently. Would appreciate any info.

a fuel filter is a first upgrade. a failsafe. from what i heard, TRAXXAS recomends keeping the stock exhaust, and air filter, but other dis agree. But a fuel filter is a must. then if u want to spend some more money.. u can get RPM shock towers.. RPM extended a-arms, RPM bulkhead braces, Aftermarket bulkheads, aftermarket skids. www.rcsolutions.com has some nice stuff. www.integy.com www.rpm.com

Are your looking for performance upgrades or structural upgrades?

As for performance, i don't know. I did a 21 conversion due to not likeing the power output of the 2.5.

For structural upgrades, wait until you break stuff and replace it with better. There isn't much need to fix what isn't broken. You will spend your money soon enough.

RPM arms and towers are a good thing to have on hand. Integy bulkheads will save you headaches later. Also, titanium hingepins will hold up longer. A better steering servo (hitech 645mg works for me).

Other than this stuff, wait until you break. Even still, I'd wait until you break before installing this stuff.

Thanks for the tips. Went and got the fuel filter at the LHS. I got the ofna. Bigger than I expected. Any suggestions on where to mount it and fuel line routing?? The LHS did not have the motor saver air filter. How does it compare to a K&N?. Just finished breaking it in. Stops running quite a bit, and hard to start after. There must be fuel getting on the top of the glow plug as it seems to boil. I will check to see if all is tight. temp is between 250-300. can't seem to get it cooler by richening. Seems to run worse. Wont pop a weelie off the line so fine tuning must be needed. Will get the bugs worked out.

Hey Woodie. Read an old thread about K&N. MOTOR SAVER ALL THE WAY!!
