Upgraded Storm engine

I blew up my original Storm engine:hammer:
So my friendly LHS guy pointed out this new motor GS is making.
The specs are type GSR21PB bore:18.27 mm Stroke16.75
RPM 33,000 HP 2.4
I am just breaking it in but our top racers is dieing to get one.
Anybody out there try this motor yet?

I don't know anything about the GS motors, but I know that $219 isn't a lot of money for a buggy engine.

New GS Storm engine

We broke in the new .21 EHX GS R21B today. This is a sweet motor. I thought the stock was fast, then again I am new to nitro
Well to make this a short story the new engine was AT LEAST 30% faster than the stock. It was almost hard to control. The stock storm love to run in the HIGH 280 degress and it seemed real happy power on command.
The new motor is running full speed run after run a real blur when it went by..guess what the operating temp???? 215 freekin degrees almost a 100 less than stock.
If and when I decide to lean this baby it's gonna break the sound barrier. Seriously it will be hard to control

On a side note what do you guys use to protect the head from scraches? I have seen guys use zip ties but it seems like they would melt at 260 degrees.:flamer:

Any Race quality engine imo is great, I remeber when I changed from a sport pullstart to a real race engine where you use a starter box. They fly period. They will compete with that engine next year so we shall see how it does on the race circut. Have fun with it they are great and easy to take huge jumps and gaps with the extra power, now go brak something!

I did not take pictures because it's just a pile of metal melted gasgets, well you get the picture. Not pretty and not worth the bandwith.
I appreciate the tips you guys are giving me. I was a little hesitant spending almost as much for a new engine as I did for the Storm.
Here's the kicker my LHS mispriced a Storm and I picked one up for $250!!!
I could have just gone home and put the virgin motor in the blown up on..but nooooooo. I have hopped up the original and I am going to leave the virgin storm alone until the original just dies you can tell I like this buggy.

Where did you buy the engine. I'd like to try one, can't get my GS-21B01P to start think its the carb. I think i broke the low end needle. I order another carb, but i'd like to try this new engine.
I saw it on shengine.com, but there's no ordering info. Could you also give me the factory settings for the stock engine. It looks like there's no fuel getting to the engine.

I too blew up my stock GS engine some time ago, and when it came to choosing a replacement I was forced, because of budgetary constraints, to choose one of the lesser expensive ones. My LHS guy suggested RB Concept. They were track proven, tuned well and kept their tune. I ended up with the 1003-E, RB's entry level bottom of the barrel engine. I paid $150 for it and it provides me with plenty of power and plenty of fun. If what you guys are saying about these top o' the line plants, these race engines are true, then I look forward to getting one soon. If my little 1003-E concept is this much fun, these other ones must be outrageous. But, and here's the question, will I give up by going to the these high end items ? How will they tune and will the keep that tune ? Am I buying power that I will rarely if ever use ?

I'm dyeing to get another GS engine. I have the b01 on my Storm RTR and I'm loving it. I think GS is gonna be the next HPI, except better. They start, idle, and tune easy as hell.

From what I understand, GS engines are made by a company called SH Engines. I've not been able to locate much information about SH except for the fact that they make hobby engines, likely airplane engines.

I've been wanting to hear some information about the new GS Racing engine since I believe that the B01 is a very good and reliable stock part. Everyone I know says "Yea, the B01 is a great stock engine" no exceptions.

Comparing my B01's break-in to my friends' Ofna Force26, I apparently had it made. The thing never stalled, not once, even the first time I started it and let it idle for a few. It's pretty quick and it runs cool. My friends' Force26 on the other hand has fouled two plugs, it stalls when you put on the gas until it's warmed up, and it won't hold an idle. It's gotten a lot better since it's fairly broken in now, but break-in was a nightmare.

I'm not saying the Force is bad at all, just using it for comparison.

Based on my experiences with the B01, I'd definately give the new GS Racing engine a shot. Plus, it's resonably priced.

Any engine will heat up if it's not tuned properly =P

My B01 is tuned fairly well I think, and it never goes above 240.

It's back down to 256 now, lol. It's just the temp went up outside it threw my A/F mixtures crazy off. SO I rishcened it a good one to one and a half turns.

I'll have to agree with you on this one. This is my first .21 engine and this thing holds its tune. It also runs cool like you said. I think it runs best between 240 and 260. This engine has lots of low end grunt. Top end is'nt bad either. I'm almost through a gallon of fuel and it just seems to get better with ever tank. The glow plug is still the original one, and shows no signs of being worn. It looks like brand new. I myself, might be interesed in experimenting with one of GSs new engines.

Savage 25 isnt poop for a bone stock single speed Storm and that makes me happy know they have a bigger engine, pull wheelies with a 2 speed.

I use cable ties, like you mention. I think most cable ties are made from some kind of hard plastic that seems pretty resistant to heat. Mine have never had any issues with melting; they don't even get soft.
