which ones out there are good for the revo steering , there is a steering mod that was posted on this site and i would like to do it, just want something with more torque in the steering

I use a single hitec 985mg and its more then enough steering with no mods.
I am using Spektrum dx2.0 so that may or may not help..

i dont need to change the controler do i ? they are abit expensive.if you knoew anybody that has one for sale let me know if not i will find one somewhere. is ot hard to set up the single servos and does it need anything else

thanks alot scooby

The 985MG is a good servo for the task. I run the same in my revo. To run a single servo setup, you want a servo that puts out 150oz or more. Any less and it feels mushy. I ran a 645MG for quite a while though, but it wasn't really responsive. It would turn, but on high traction, it wouldn't hold a line at all.

You will want to replace the stock servo saver spring with the heavy duty spring

I didn't do anything else special to install the 985MG other than fiddle with washers to use the servo horn that comes with it. I also cut off the other arm that went to the other servo to avoid having it hang up on stuff and breaking things.

I do have a radio that allows me to adjust EPA's, but if you set the linkage up right, the stock radio won't push it any further than it should. One of the most important things for servos is to not allow them to be mechanically limited and try to push them beyond that limit. They won't do it, but they will burn up trying.

Here's a close up of mine:

You can see where I cut the other arm off at the top of the pic.

Just get the one mentioned before, Its what I run and is the shizant!

Bryson

i will definetively take a look at the both pf them but i will most likely go wit hthe hitec 945 i here alot talk about that one , and either way something that is the '' shizant'' can't be all tha bad rigt ? !! love that saying, in my area we say the ''shizzy''

Analogs are just fine for bashing, digitals are good too, but they could cut down on your run times on the Rx battery. The 985MG will do you just fine. I used to run a 5645MG in my Revo if your set on a digital, thats a great choice too. Just be sure to get the HD Servo Saver spring that olds97_lss linked you to.

I'd get a digital servo, cuz analogs are bogus.

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNRL2&P=7 is a great all around servo. Dont gimme that "oh its junk" bullcrap. Its made BY hitec.

ugh...hmm

Hitec isnt all that great buddy..

anyways

if you want some real power

slap 2 JR DZ8550 servos in there

i run 1, with the Spektrum DX3.0 along with the JR z9000S throttle servo
I'm more then sure that u wont need 2. 1 of these turns my 40 series crime fighters with ease while my truck isnt moving

cheers

i've had 5 or 6 Hitec's fail on me either during bash's or during important races, either they just stop or the metal gears take a poop.

my friend just bought a new savage x ss not to long ago, and was using the hitec 645 for steering, and it just up and stopped after 4 tanks, brand new, he also ran a 625 on the throttle and brake and it did the exact same thing. bought 2 new JR's and both work flawlessly

so guess in conclusion the jr'S are going to beat the battle of teh beter servos then!

which one is better cost wise , I'm purely basher , if that helps.

all i've ran are hitec, and I've never had a servo failure. I will happily take a Hitec made servo over any JR... I've had 3 of those fail on me.

hitec's warranty is definitely better too. If you have ANY problems, just contact Mike Mayberry.

Nicholas, one other suggestion that hasn't been mentioned (and I'm surprised the Traxxas guru didn't bring it up) is to do the Slayden mod to the front steering. Go to Traxxas' web site and search "Slayden". There is an excellent step-by-step guide to converting the Revo to a single-servo steering and some other tips to improve turning radius overall.

i just checked that out and seems more for a racer , i just want a quick fix and get it over with , and dont want to spend a fortune doing all this

Does that steering mod only work with certain wheels like stock or 40 series? It doesn't work with maxx standard sized wheels... it allows the rim to rub the arm quite a bit. I have nice grooves worn into my RPM arms now after I did that.
