I was on ebay looking at all the parts they sell for savages and saw a few that I thought about getting but I figure I better ask first if their even worth getting. Here are the upgrades I was looking at getting down the road:

1) Fuel tank protector
2)Roll cage
3) Alluminum bumpers
4) piggyback shocks
5) reverse module

Are any of these necessary upgrades or is the savage durable enough without any of these??

None of them would be considered necessary unless you want to go in reverse.

The only one I have on your list is the fuel tank protector.

Only ones I would get would the roll cage and reverse it you want it. Oh and the tank protector if the cage doesn't protect it.

Aluminum bumpers will bend and scratch, piggyback shocks would be cool, but stock ones worked great for me.

roll cage good. i went of a 5 ft jump and landed on the roof and bent the dog piss out of the roll bar.
get the msr5 piggy back shcks if you get piggys. fuel tank good choice i have one and love it. alum bumpers bend and you will bend them if your out bashing as well as my skids bend when i jump and land wrong.

spend the shock money on the 3 speed. i like my shocks want ue shocks but i can do without for the time being.

I like my reverse. I took it out for a while and just put one back in again because I missed it. It makes it allot easier to get out of the brush if you need too. The shocks and alloy bumpers you can do without. The tank protector is a must if you bash hard. I would recommend either the Vertigo or the Adrenaline guards though because they use 3 screws to mount up and are much sturdier than others on the market.

To tell you the truth, i dont think any of those mods are necessary.

The savage bumpers are well loved because they "forgive on falls and tumbles"

stock shocks are better than any pggy

Necessary, no. Usefull, sort of.

I've found that normal steel rod cages bend about as easy as the stock roll bar. But they do make the rear and top of the body last way longer. I've had the same body on my savage for about 4 gallons. Yes, it's beat up, but it's still intact. Prior to the 4 gallons, I didn't have a roll cage and I was replacing bodies every gallon or so.
