would there be a big diference in speed if i upgraded the stock .15 ae engine
to a .15 os cvrx? I've seen the .15 ae engines go for about $50 - $55 on ebay so the cvrx would cost about $70 net..also will the stock pipe fit the cvrx or would i want to change it?
now with winter about here in michigan i dont think ill be driving it till spring just looking at it and dressing it up

also would the .18 cvrx drop in...and if so would i just be asking for broken drivetrain parts?

i never race, just run by myself in a wide open large parking lot and i want top speed ..........this is for the ntc3+ i won in the lotto i have some hop ups for it coming and will post pics as i upgrade ( just love the blue & graphite! )

The .15 CV-Rx is a good engine. That's what I put in my NTC3 when I was still bashing around. The power output is so much more better than the ae engine. The 18 is a very torquey engine as well but if you have the budget, get a nice italian engine. More powerful and balanced engine. If that's a bit over what you want, the Sirio .12 Evo2 is more powerful than the OS .15CV-RX. Also check your gearing for the car. I don't know what the gearing is that they gave you with the RTR but a 21/27 pinion and 54/48 spur will give you the punch and top nd you want.

diver so if i understand the .18 cvrx will drop in? i dont want to grind or modify the chasis or mounts if i dont have to
i did a quick google search on the siro evo2 and didnt see any for sale how much are they and would it only be a diference of a couple mph over the cvrx?.......also are the italian engines as easy to tune / keep a tune
i hear the cvrx is pretty painless...and yes i will be regearing it i was going to ask about a good speed setup but you already gave me that...thanks a million :)

The 18 cvrx should be a direct bolt on provided you get the right exhaust, either side or rear (dunno what the rtr has). Dunno about the sirio, but assuming you regear the car, you should EASILY be able to break 50mph. I'd say you'd be in the neighborhood of 55-60 depending on the area you're running and gearing.

Italian engines are by far the best for performance. I've heard the more "sport," 1hp engines are pretty easy to tune, but when you get into the real expensive top of the line italian engines, it'll get harder to tune than a sport engine.

I run a turbo novarossi ns12s3 and it's a REALLY good engine, but can be a pain to tune if you don't know what you're doing. It's quite sensitive to needle changes.

The .18 is a direct drop in. The sirio will be a HELL of a lot better than the OS and the Italian engine's are by far the best performers. Kwong and I run the same engine. The NS12S3 is hard to find now since it is discontinued. Get the RR12L3 ... same as the NS12 but a long stroke engine with a turbo crank.

Tuneability, pretty easy with the sirio almost the same as the Italian engines. Just gotta take your time with them. No big adjustments and most of all ... make sure you get these engine's in an SG crank. I don't know what kind of crank came in the RTR, but if it's a threaded shaft, it's the short version. All you have to do is get the SG Clutch nut and you'll be set.

Before I go and stat recomending engine's, how would you rate your tuning ability? Be honest ...

be honest.... humm?? ok just dont tell the wife i can do that :)

really i only run by myself no one around here i know of has a REAL rc car so i have no one to compare to so.....I'm the best i know at tuning :arrr:

i will say i had a old traxxas nitro sport with a trx .15 not the pro version it had about 3 gallons thru it when i bought it and i put about a gollon thru it before selling it and it still ran good. and now i have a new nitro sport with the pro .15 and i have done pretty good at tuning those engines and from what i hear they can be frustrating to tune..............that said i would like to get something that would be fairly noob friendly i dont want to have a bad day and blow a $300 mill

thanks

ok i found the recomended engines described and there all non pull start from what i can see.
i should have said at the start that it needs to have a pullstart engine.. my bad.
so to recap would the .18 cvrx be my best choice for around $200? or are the fantom engines any better? i just can't justify $300++ for a full race engine + $50+ for a starter box when the pullstart works fine for me and honestly i would love to go top end but i do only bash by myself and thats a lot of money when a $150 cvrx would do pretty good

thanks for the help guys

If you want good performance with ALMOST the same price as an OS, get the Sirio .12 Evo2. Fairly easy to tune and is a great performer for about $50 more. Definitely outperforms the OS in every way.
