Bought a 3.3 off the bay and I can get it running but the idle isn't steady it keeps revving up a tiny bit then idling down a tiny bit and repeats. When you give it gas it runs great. Any tips?

Run it and get it tuned and see if that fixes it if not it may need to be sealed. My t maxx has a 3.3 on it and it also has an irregular idle sometimes but sometimes doesn't. i havnt really worried about it

i havnt worried about it but this motor was used and i have no idea the amount of fuel thru it i no I've ran about 2 gallons thru it. and still runs good but id do like the above said

I have only idled it for a half tank. Going to try and run it and tune it and see if it gets any better.

i am not a real good tuner. but some times after an adjustment you need to let it set and stabilize for a while. some times it takes a few minuets. it seams like that is the nature of 2 cycle engines. if iam right. the other cats on site are the experts.

Dont let it "set" tune and run a couple of passes, and check it, but i would seal the engine, then tune it.

When you ssay idled 1/2 tank did you buy it new? If you did, did you follow a break in method?

I agree with tmaxxfreak, also I agree with the guys on the air leak, idling for extended periods is not good for any engine imo

It's been broke in. I was revving it some to make sure it worked. I am going to tear it down and clean it then seal it. I just wanted to make sure it ran before I went there. :)

Sealing it wouldn't hurt, but it could've been a simple matter of the lsn being right on the edge of tuned or rich. Don't get confused on which idle is good either, most engines like that nice clean high idle vs a low '4 cycle' idle.
Make sure the idle gap is 1mm or less and set the lsn so it will snap off the line after 5-10 seconds of idling. If it hesitates or loads up in 5 seconds it's still too rich.

I had trouble getting it started as well so I think a tear down is in order to see what the dilly is
