so what's the word fellas? 6 gears or 8? At $200+ I'm sure some will say I might as well go with 8 but in my responsivle mind 40 bucks is 40 bucks. Is 8 gears really necessary? I currently run an Outlaw .26 and have no urge for any more power, I will most likely just rebuild when time comes.

I have an Idea....instead of blowing $200 on an old design get yourslef a new rig. Just my .02

it was actually pointed out to me that it would probably be better to get the Fastlane 1/8 bulkless setup and install 7.5 diffs... that would add up to around the cost of the UE 8 gear diffs except I would have less flex. parts are readily available as well. This seems like a better route to me and will more than likely be the road I take.

I like my T-Maxx. I don't want another rig, that would just be another pot for me to put money in. Not because of repairs, but initial cost. I have no desire for a Savage whatsoever. I happen to like the LST but can't get one for $250, plus I like to only have 1 radio for allmy toys, so a new Specktrum Rx would be a must.. that's another $80. Then I would have a truck that just sits there and I really hate havin things that don't get used. to sell it would be a waste of money and time and I hate that even more. Opinion noted and taken with a grain of salt but why oh why does every post in the T-Maxx forum these days turn into a "Why even bother" thread before the question is even answered? I don't mean to sound snippy VB, I think I'm just irritable today. sorry man...

sidenote: Do you still have a need for an airplane fuel filler valve? The kind I tried to send you once.. I no longer use them or have a need so if you do let me know, I have two you can have. Except, in a box this time. :)

Nah I gave up on that project. Thanks anyway tho. I have a friend thats in the same boat as you are with the Maxx. He's got all kinds of cash put into it and keeps breaking it. he blew the tranny this past weekend. By all means if you like the rig keep it!

After diffs there isnt' anything else I can do to the drivetrain.. so if it breaks after that I'll suck it up and sell to some other sucker. LOL.

I am gonna go with the 8 gear diff setup myself, even though i may not need it, better to be safe than sorry. I have the Sirio .27R and i think its enough power for me, but I'm scared of blowin up 1/10 scale diffs... I already went to the 1/8th clutch, so i might as well do the diffs. Hopefully ill order em soon. I have the Fastlane 1/8th bulkless waiting for em!

stock diffs suck major ass... I blew my last one while braking. stupid diff cups. I have like 3 pair of extra ring and pinion gears layin around just from replacing the stupid cup.

Yes they do.....I never understood why someone would design a monster truck and then make it wimpy......the T-maxx is such a better design thant the savage when built w/ more durable parts than they give you....it's a fun little truck and handles much better than the savvy savage...lessen the stock 7.5 diffs are WAY stronger than the T-maxx diffs...you definately won't regret the upgrade....

one more thing guys the gear ratio will change when you go to 1/8 scale diffs....you'll be like 2.85 vs. 3.6.....those are rough numbers from memory so I wouldn't quote em....I asked here a while ago and someone gave the ratios to me......

I'm currently running 14 and 52 tooth repectively. I have a couple 18T CB's from my twin engine days that I'll reinstall whenever I do the diff upgrade. I havn't done the math but it should be fine I figure.

yeah the 52t spur is real high gear....you might want to get some CBs that fill in that gap of range you have there.....I keep 12t - 15t in my box for buggies and you will notice a difference in each one...CB will affect the ratio more drastic than Spurs will anyway.....sounds like you got it all fingered out.....

If I'm doing the equation right 52 divided by 14 is 3.71... So 3.6 quoted earlier is pretty close. FYI I'm also running an 18 tooth CB.

no the 3.6 was the diff ratio not primary ratio.....for a primary you want to be around 5 for first gear.....

Aa You lost me. I thought he was talking about the ring and pinion gears being 14, and 52.

I was Hpe, but the ratio's that Plaid was speaking of are the diff ratio's aka "final drive ratio". The ratio of the number of teeth on the sun (output gears) vs. the number of teeth on the planetary (spider) gears.

They are working today! Should have drank more water. LOL!

you guys are funny....yeah lessen was following the info.....but the final drive ratio is another calculation...I forget what just the diff ratio would be called.....meybe "diff ratio"????Hyped you need to drink less beer it seems to me...or more depending on how it hits ya.... :D
