Yes the slide will give you more throttle control than a rotary. The exponential gain in the opening is less than with a rotary carb.
In my experience with a slide carb you can smoothly go from 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, 100% open.
With a Rotary it seems its more like 10%, 20%, 50%, 90% 100% open.
If you are the type of person that is either 100% on the throttle or 100% off the throttle you will not notice a difference between the two. If you want more linear control over the throttle position then you want a Slide Carb hands down.
