I have a choice between a OS15CVR and a Tamiya FS15RS. The Tamiya one is a bit more expensive but not much. Wich one should I buy? I need something thats easy to tune and stays tuned, I am new to nitro and dont need anymore frustration!

One thing...these are called Engines...motors are electric. GO with the OS. OS makes some of the best and most reliable aftermarket enignes ever.

But...let me get some links to good engine sites.
Hold on.

If you want easy to tune, and reliability... O.S. is the way to go man...

My .15 CV-RX served me well for quite some while. Poor guy got sold...

Stupid billls... :contract:

Os 15 cvx it is are these machines easy to tune and run in, how do i run this motor in?

CV-RX or CV-X?

The "X" only designates the motor being a pull start...

either way, break it in, make sure its broken in, run the hell outta it...

(Break in: 1st tank: Let it idle, nothing more, maybe a little bit of "fast idle" if it tries to die on ya, 2nd tank: Let it "fast idle" 3rd tank: vary between "fast idle" and 1/4 throttle, do this for the fourth tank too... 5th tank: "Fast idle" to 1/2 throttle.

6th tank, start messing with the High speed needle(Like 1/16th of a turn lean, no Full throttle, no more than half.

7th tank, one more 1/16th of a crank lean on the HS, might be able to start toying(1/16-1/6th of a turn on the LSN)

8th tank: Probly not broken in yet, but you can start trying to tune it.

9th: No full throttle yet... keep toying with needle settings, but make sure it's not overheating...

10th tank: Yes, I can finally floor it..

(Keep in mind, this is how i break a motor in... and most people dont do it this way...)

:D

KMN is right - break in your engine properly - this is SOOOOO important - my first engine i got, i didnt do this with, and within 2 months, i had blow by. No restarts were possible, overheated all the time, wouldnt hold a tune. Finally just threw it away, and bought a new engine. Broke it in right, and now i can run it for 30 minutes with a body on, and still be within the temp band.

I can run my TRX fo9r hours on end without overheating :D

I've got mine tuned perfectly, and running strong. Rich of course, but still :)

Break in is the MOST IMPORTANT thing to do.. No matter what you do, break the engine in properly. :)

What vehicle are you putting this engine in?

I would definately recommend an OS engine any day. Mine has been awesone! Parts for them such as pistons, sleeves, heads, gaskets, etc. are fairly easy to find when you do find it is ready for some work or a rebuild. They hold a tune extremely well, the OS carbs are great carbs. I put one on my HPI engine and the carb made it run like a completely different engine. Go with the OS, you won't be disappointed.

And like everyone else mentioned break it in right! Follow the manufacturers instructions on break in.

O.S. Might include a break-in manual with the engine. I suggest you follow that, usually the manufacturer knows what their doing.

SHK- Renegade is from South Africa, so maybe they are motors there. Get the O.S. if those are your two choices. You cannot go wrong with an O.S.

mo·tor - noun
Something, such as a machine or an engine, that produces or imparts motion.
A device that converts any form of energy into mechanical energy, especially an internal-combustion engine or an arrangement of coils and magnets that converts electric current into mechanical power.
A motor vehicle, especially an automobile: “It was a night of lovers. All along the highway... motors were parked and dim figures were clasped in revery” (Sinclair Lewis).

I hate to see people start an arguement over a word. So I'll go ahead and add this so an arguement doesn't need be started. Not saying there would be.

But anyways... Onto my next thing I wanted to add.

OS Motors are VERY nice.. And probably the most tunable motors out there. I highly recommend one, and there's only ONE you must do. Break it in correctly. The life of the motor depends on how you break it in. :)
