Well We have a COBY DVD/TV and for some reason it wont play newer dvd's is there a known fix for this??

What do you mean by "New ones"? If you're talking about Blue Ray, no player will play them that wasn't built to handle them.
Apparently they're worth a lot more used, than new.

YOu might want to check with the manufacturer to see if there is a firemware update for the device. On my Bluray players, you will occasionally have to run an update to play the newer movies.
