Hey I am wondering what is the best way to tune the engine? I have read many articles/stickies about tuning and i understand how to do it. Because i am used to working on small engines.

But i am wondering what is a good setting for my LSN and my HSN to start tuning? Because i have threw my HSN way off so i am wondering whats a good setting to start at? Should i put my LSN an my HSN flush and tune from there?

Also i notice my wheels spin when i pick up my truck but when my truck is on the ground it stays still. I am wondering when i am tuning it are the wheels not suppose to move when its idling if i pick the truck up?

I am using a 3.3 engine BTW

Well forget about the spinning wheels...start odf with the HSM at 2 and hakf turns out...full turns. Also with the LSN make sure its flush. Your idle screw should be adjusted to so that your throttle body is about a little more then 1mm.

If your engine is in good shape, your compression and its properly sealed, this will give you a real good starting point. Always start tunning the HSN then LSN then mess with your idle. Rule of thumb: your idle should be low enough to where it stays idling for 20 sec at least. Make sure the engine is warmed up properly. Take your time tuning. It usually takes 2 to 3 tanks to tune an engine properly. Once tuned, all you'll need to do from there on is adjust youir HSN to accommodate the temps.

A temp gun will help you with your tuning but never rely on it.

Good luck.

Make sure the LSN is flush with the inner ring, not the thing the ball cup clips on. Traxxas manual has a good image of it.

Actually, here's a snapshot:

HSN 4 turns out. 2.5 would be a bit on the lean side...

Thanks for the pix! I have the 3.3 motor. I am going to turn the HSN out 4 from close and put the LSN flush like the picture and tune out from there.
