RC Driving Style
Well, I finally got my Maxx running after about 6 months. While running it today it would idle a little high but then after a little it would start to idle lower and lower until it dies. Any ideas on why this is happening...?
 
I"m not a tuning god yet, but from what i understand that is about right. my hyper 8 port will die if i let it idle for a minute. it sounds like your idle screw is about right. what temps are you running?
most of the time the engine will die if too much fuel gets into the engine and isnt' burnt off. all you have to do is blip the throttle every 10-15 seconds and it should work fine for you.
 
Well, I think it should idle without having to blip the throttle every 10 - 15 secods... I'll try leaning out the mixture a little and see if anything changes, as for temps I have no idea. It runs just as hot as my friends Maxx and he'sa tuning god but we lost contact.

I've always sucked ass at tuning engines, not my thing I guess... :shrug:
 
you could try leaning the lsn a tad. if that doesn't work try bringing up your idle that'll work for sure.
 
The idle right now won't allow me to switch it into reverse sometimes since it's too high... I'll try leaning it out a little and if it doesn't work I'll take it in to a shop and see if they can't do anything with it...
 
A lot of nitro engines don't want to idle very long just after they've been started. Sometimes you have to throttle them up and blow the snot out, so to speak, and then they will behave. Usually caused by excess fuel from priming, and a cold engine.
 
Unfortunatly, if your running a high oil content fuel, this is more likely to happen. There isn't enough inertia in these little engine to cough and sputter when they "load up", so they die. I've noticed, running trinity MHP 20% with 12%oil, mine will almost idle all day long. But when I use Sidewinder 20% with 16% oil, I only get about a minute before it starts dieing on me at idle.

Besides, why are you letting it idle so long? Drive the damn thing!
