I have a problem with my mgt 4.60 motor I keep burning up the glow plug the filliment keeps disapearing and the motor just stalls out. This usually happens in the first couple minutes of running. there is smoke coming out of the exhuast like it alwasy has so I'm not sur if I have the low speed fuel out of adjustment and the high is rich. also what glow plugs should i be using the truck is stock. thanks for the help.

around 180 but the motor doesn't run long enougth to really temp it and there is smoke coming out of the exhaust. what happens is, I will start the truck and crack the throttle a few times till it seem to be cleaned out. put the truck on the ground and hit full throttle the truck will let out some smoke like any 2 stroke should and when I have to break for the frist corner of the driveway, the engine will flame out and that will be it. a total run time of 30 seconds. then i check the glow plug and the coil in the plug is gone. I have run about 8 gallons though the motor since i bought it a year or ago and had no problems till now. this is killing me. oh i also tryed to seal up the back plate on the motor so I know there is mo air leak there.

Maybe take your carb apart and clean it? Also check your fuel lines/filters for clogs/leaks.

You didn't happen to the head of the engine off and forget to put the head shims back in did you?

no i have never had the engine open just the back plate to fix the one way bearing. I will check into the carb. and get back to you.

For the plug to blow like that the engine must be pretty hot. Where are you temping the engine? If the engine is getting to rich you can still blow your plug due to improper needle settings What type plug are you using??? What type fuel and percentage?

I am using dynamite nc7 glow plug and 25% nitro by trinity, the truck will only run for a couple of seconds then flame out so I havent be able to get a good temp on it but what i have been seeing is around 180. thats what makes this so wierd. do you think i could have the low speed jet to lean and the high jet to rich?

I had a similar problem on my Storm this weekend. Try richening your LSN needle. Where are you temping the engine?

straight down on the top. I was thinking the lsn might be lean and the hsn might be rich. thats why I am seeing the smoke and fuel on the ground.

Try it out. What is the worse that will happen? It will die again. If that does not work try my suggestion. Also how new is this plug? I like using a hot plug, MC59. I was stumped on my storm since it was not ran for a few months. I was having the whole dieing thing happening. Nothing i did worked. I replaced it and then retuned. Worked out for me.
