RC Driving Style
Hey, I was bored a couple days ago, so thought about it if it was possible to give my TT-01 touring car, some more ground clearance and have it be like a buggy for offroad, and then not have much effect on the speed. I have some pics that I took.

Before any work is done...

Released shocks from shock towers....

Now that shocks are off, lets see the clearance, but the rear skid plate is in the way..

Removed the skidplate, now look at that clearance we got.

Now we have to find a place to mount the shocks, to keep the car up high off the ground... heres a good spot. I had to make the hole a bit bigger, for a huge screw to firmly hold the shock in place.

We now have the shocks mounted firmly here...

We have a problem! The turnbuckle is rubbing againts one of the arms. Got out my utility knife and cut it till it fit.

All done with the back, lets give it a test run...

Car works good... but the thing is, It is making some funky noises. Either the turnbuckle is rubbing on the arm more, and causing the driveshaft (connects front and back to make 4wd) to make noises, or the dogbones are at to much of an angle to function properly, causing the driveshaft to make weird noises.

What do you think the problem is? Thanks

I think it's the extreme angle of the dogbone causing some binding in the outdrive. Can be either the pin knocking around inside or the actual dogbone scraping the rim of the outdrive. Either way, it's that extreme angle that's probably causing the sound you're hearing.

man you need a better camera lol yea it sounds like the angle of the bones.. describe the sound??

My camera is good, it just doesn't have a focus button. I am getting my dad a good digital camera for fathers day, so I can use that soon. Mine is 2.1 megapixel.

About the sound.. it is like a fast clicking noise. I know it is something with the driveshaft getting caught up on something. You really think it is the angle of the dogbones?

Also, is outdrive what I am calling the driveshaft, or is it something else. Thanks

I know it's the angle of the dogbones. Onroads are not meant to have that serious of a pitch in the driveline. You'll break something sooner or later. More sooner than later.

You can't just raise the ride height. You also need to widen the track with longer arms as well as longer dogbones. Your car is a 190mm. You need to increase it to 200mm and not put such a high ride height. You can make it a "rally style" car with some ingenuity but for something like what you're trying? It's not worth the effort.

Ok, thanks for the info. But what do you mean by rally style? Do you mean for driving on the dirt? If so, where can I buy/make such an upgrade? Thanks

Yes, for driving in the dirt. I don't think they make a rally conversion for your car. I only know that the AE TC3 had a rally conversion. For Thunder Tiger, I don't think so.

ok, what all does the conversion add on to it though? Do you replace the arms and stuff?

Arms, shocks, dogbones, springs, shock towers.

Ok, thanks a lot. I guess I will not go any further in trying this out. Thanks to Diver6127 and beason for helping me out on this one...

How much, and is it RTR?

If you want a rally version, get ratzo's. He keeps his equipment in prestine condition. Try it out and contact him. You never know.

No it's not RTR.
It has no esc or motor.
It needs some parts to complete. like 2 or 3 parts.
I thought you wanted a project car.
Sorry

yea, ... thats fine also. How much for it?

Let me look to see if I have the parts to make it complete.
If I do, I'd probably say like $55 bucks shipped.
Shipping will be around $10 so I'd get around $45.
