Ok, but I'm afraid. I'm not kidding. Sorry to sound like a girl. LOL. Really though, I'm afraid I can't do it. What a wus. Ok, I'll do it. If I have trouble though, I'm blaming you! I'll hunt you down for help. Just kidding about the last 2 lines. Thanks for your help (I think).

No, it's not hard at all! A few things:

1. GET THE MANUAL! Especially the pages with exploded views.
2. TAKE YOUR TIME! This isn't a race.
3. REMOVE/REASSEMBLE IN SECTIONS: You'll see that there are basically three sections to that truck; front end, rear end and chassis (center). Best thing to do to avoid losing or mixing parts up is break it down by sections. The whole rear end of that rig comes apart as one section. Break it down, clean it up, reassemble, set aside. Then do the front and center. Once you get there, all you have to do is put the three sections back on the chassis.

Honestly, it isn't hard and we'll all lend a hand if you get in a jam! You'll be that much better at wrenching on the rig when you really need to!

MW is right...I do the exact same thing...no matter where it comes from even they may not know what's broke....It's also a good practice to get into on a fairly regular basis....this hobby is great for teaching simple mechanics....you will learn all the basic principles of an engine and suspension system...even basic clutch theory......I got my 8 year old already naming the parts of teh engine....we tried to build an OS .15 last year but it didn't really run well.....we had a box of parts from local flea market.....she understands more about engines at 8 years old than the boys in her class.....I justified the hobby to my mom when I was 12 that way....she almost choked on the cost...I had to buy all the stuff and she bought my first kit.....the grasshopper.....

Truthfully, it's a lot easier than it may first appear. What you'll notice is that most of the screws and bolts are the same diameter and that some are machine threads and others are not. If you keep it sectioned out, it'll go a lot smoother and you're less likely to forget something. Nothing more frustrating than getting a diff put back together, getting it back into the bulk, getting the bulk back on the chassis, getting the axles, shocks, shock tower etc. back on THEN discovering, "crap, I forgot to put two screws into the ring gear to the diff cup!" Not that that's ever happened to me PERSONALLY, but I hear it can make you really mad!

Believe it or not, I have a 2 year automotive diploma. It's different but I guess not really. I decided to be a service advisor instead of a mechanic. I would of entered a 2nd year apprenticeship for a mechanic. I also thought being 40 or so and female, it would be hard slugging. I think the fear comes from being sick for 5 years. I haven't worked much during that time. It takes away your self-confidence and creates fear, believe it or not. I do want to thank you guys for trying to give me the push and confidence. I'm going to start tomorrow. You'll see me on the forums and I'll let you know how well I do. Thanks you guys. :whip:

If you've got ANY wrenching experience at all you can do it...just do it like MW laid it out....one section then next....if you have a digital cam we can help you a lot more if you post pics.....but there's a ton of T-maxx experts on here that can help.......Rolex is the resident Maxx god but he's on leave right now......

Oh..ya...I have wrenching experience. I have my digital camera charging up so I'll keep track as I go. I can do this! Thanks for the support! I probably remember more than I think. You get away from it and you start to think you forget everything. I'm sure it'll come back. It's been 9 years. Four to five of that I spent as a service advisor for Toyota. Wow! It seems so long ago, though. Well, I'll let you know how it goes.

Kelly, you've got two more years automotive experience than I do! No doubt, in a few months, we'll be asking for help from you!

Just have fun with it! That's the most important thing. I love wrenching on them because it gives my mind something else to do than worry about my dipshit boss!

Just one step at a time! If you get stuck, ask.

I love you guys. Guys are so much cooler than chicks. Will you all marry me?? LOL

All of us?!? At once?

J/K.

If you get real stuck throw it all in a box and mail it to one of us. We'll slap it together for ya! DON'T PAY SOMEONE!

Only if I can be from the Western Provinces!

Seriously, my offer is open anytime. If you are that stuck, I'll get it going.
