Hey all, looking for a few opinions on truggy engines. I am looking for a good .21 or perhaps a .24 or .25. Not sure yet. I have had V-Spec's and loved them but I am looking for something with maybe a little more low end but still a strong top end pull. I dont think I want to go all the way to a .28 as I dig the fuel economy and drivability of a good .21. My budget is $250-$300. This will basically be for club and sports level regional racing so I dont believe I need a $500 engine. A few I am looking at. Any other idea or opinions are welcome and thank you...
JAMMIN JPX .21
REEDY VR121 .21
NOVAROSSI: Not sure which Nova I would want. HELP!!!
ALPHA .21 or .24
O.S. Another V-spec, or their new .25.
ANY OTHERS:
THANKS!

Alpha Plus S852 (Orange Head) gets my vote. LOVE mine...and at $209 it's hard to beat. The JL21 is nice too...and so is the B5 though. I almost bought a B5, but went with the Alpha because it was different...and looked cooler. Now I'm glad I did, but pretty sure I'd be happy with any of the 3.

Werks B5, hands down the strongest, most fuel efficient engine right out of the box. Does not need modded. Breaks in easy, tunes easy. I love my JL .21 but the Werks gets better runtime and has more bottom end torque. You can easily go up 1 or 2 teeth on the CB and the Werks will still pull hard. I have yet to see a newer JPX 21 Plus run though. They would be very close. I've seen the Werks go 12 minutes a tank, repeatedly in a buggy. If you get the Werks run a 2013 pipe.

The Alpha gets huge runtime out of the box as well with the 0801 pipe. I was getting 12-14 min at PNB this year with my Truggy. At my local track, I'm only getting 9-10, but that's with the 8mm restrictor in there and our home track is a bit more wide open.

B5 is an awesome engine though.

Honestly...they all run great. Pick the one that looks best to you....I bet you will be happy that way. hehe

I also love my werks B5, even tho I'm not a good racer, 9 times out of 10 i can smoke people on the straights no problem.

Mine has a 2013 pipe and its in a LRP S8TX and I'm getting around 9 min or run time and still have further to leave it out if i desire.

9 minutes in a truggy, you need to lean that puppy out somewhere. Go up a tooth on the CB and use the 7mm restrictor on the carb.
