what are everyone's opinion's on truggies?i am considering getting one and i want to know what people think of them. what are some good ones? what are some pros and cons of them?and where can i get some reviews of some truggies.

i am thinking of getting one becuase of the terrain i plan to use my rc truck on. it would be too rough for a buggy to be good on. i would be able to go over it but i have seen a video of terrain similar to what i plan to use it on and the buggy was bouncing up and down and wasn't driving straight from bouncing up in the air from the rough terrain. i don't need the size of a monster truck becuase it would simply be overkill. so if truggies are faster and more durable the monster trucks (which i expect them to be but i'm not positive) i would gladly sacrifice the unneeded size of the monster truck for it.

get a monstertruck... they go anywhere the buggies will and any where else for that matter...............:mex:

I have both the T Maxx and the Mutant Maxx (truggy). They are very different in nature. The Mutant's handling capabilities are light years ahead of the T Maxx. Nothing cost effective about building one but if money isn't an issue then you will love it.

JT also has a complete list of what to order including part #'s if my memory serves me correctly.

There is also a GS Storm MT comming out if not already out. A Storm that's been converted to an MT.

Hybrid's and truggy's are soo much better handling than any of the high center of gravity "monsters" like the maxx, savage, or MGT. I recently converted my SuperMaxx EXT .21 chassis maxx over to a JT hybrid and the handling improvment is simply amazing. (check my gallery for pics) No more flipping even if I try to, no more annoying wheelies, it squats and just goes just like a buggy, and I can use a starter box and any .21 engine I want. It handles much like a 1/8 buggy but with the ability to handle some serious rough terrain. Also because of the super effecient drivetrain of a truggy/hybrid you don't loose any speed or aceleration vs the 2 speed equiped monsters.

If money isn't an issue, then go with a truggy. Especially if you plan to race in the future. I'm about to start on a Mugen MBX-4 XR / JT Racing hybrid.

I really like my Savage, yet everytime I have to work on it, it's a pain in the @$$!.. After getting familiar with my MBX5 and realizing how much easier a buggy is to work on, I'd have to say if I were to get a new truck, I'd go with a truggy.

victor. everyone is like that wit hthe savage at first , its just getting used to working on a design like that . it gets much easier. if you are racing get a truggie, if you're playing, get a savage and some hop ups

Why is it people think you have to race to have a truggy or hybrid? I rarely ever race and just bash with mine and like it 10x better then it used to be. all the crap about a truggy being bad off road on really harsh terrain is a joke too. I have just as much ground clearance as I used to.

Well, I know that. I am very familiar with the savage. Regardless of how much one knows about the savage, a buggy (or truggy) is still easier to work on.

Don't get me wrong, the savage is a great truck once you've worked out some bugs. Its just not the easiest to work on.

i own a savage SS, and a 1/8 scale buggy.

if you go to http://ofna.com

they have many fast truggy MT set ups for sell.

some damn fast ones too.

they are easier to work on then a savage or t-maxx as well.

no idea why those few people above said stay away, there is nothing wrong with a good truggy at all and a good one will be faster out of the box then most MT 's anyway.

handling will be more like a buggy as well.

SixVi6-Camaro,
what kind of terrain do you drive your truggy on? can it handle mud good? are there paddle tires that fit on it without trouble?

i'm asking these questions becuase my brother drives his real car off- road and i plan on taking my r/c car with me when i go with him. so i am going to be using it in mud and i want to be able to use padles tires(because they will probably be needed) and i want to make sure it has enough ground clearance before i buy it

what do you mean by "they aren't much bigger than a truggy"? a rusty is smaller and a t-maxx is bigger.

i want something durable, a decent amount of ground clearance, plenty of power, and at a fair price. the rusty is a stadium truck so it only has two wheel drive(i think, correct me if i'm wrong). and i have heard horror stories about how the t-maxx is a money pit, so i'm staying away from that.

I know I meant the maxx isn't that much bigger. The rusty is 2wd but you don't really need 4wd unless you bash i the snow. That's why I'm switching to a maxx. But if you want the smallness of a stadium truck but 4wd of a monster than go with the HPI MT2 and put monster treds on, That's pretty much a truggy right there.

Truggy = Half truck, half buggy

Truggies aren't small, usually an 1/8 scale buggy with different gearing and tires. This is a truggy
