does it run? did it not give you a woodie when you were breaking it in? is it not more power than the stock mill you had?

usually conversion kits will come with a mill comparable to a stock mill.....that doesn't mean they are junk, it's just not as nice as the aftermarket mills....stock engines are usually more temperamental and don't last as long, but they also cost 1/2 the price as the high end engines do....run it til it breaks then you can make the "junk" judgement for yourself.....
 
no i herd that the hotbodies .46 engine was all hyped up but its not worth the money. i didnt know if there were any outstanding problems with it down the road. to tell the truth i think i would be perfectly happy putting the stock hpi motor back on it i never had troubles with that motor

I agree with both comments, but I don't own a savage. Never base your opinion on products solely on the opinions of others. Let your own experience be the determining factor. It never hurts to read consumer reports/reviews on products before a purchase to influence you on what to buy and when to buy it, but you already bought this kit so why get down about it now?

I have to agree with Plaidfish's first sentence. Do you really not feel you got your money worth out of the kit? If not, why? Other readers may be considering this and would like to hear your feedback.

I own a 2.5 T-Maxx, and from what I read they are JUNK and now I wished I had a Savage. Does that mean I'm going to abandon my t-maxx? Well, no. I actually have a blast with it, and what others say really doesn't mean a darn thing when it comes to what makes me happy. I'm actually using it as a learning tool anyway, the more things that break the more things I will know how to fix. Doesn't bother me any.

None of these engines will last forever, and I'm sure that some rich kid that doesn't know how to take care of his engine got pissy when it died on him and mommy wouldn't buy him a new one so he wrote a negative review. As long as you do your part to maintain an engine they will last considerably longer than if owned by a careless individual.
 
Right now my truck is in peices i'm doing just about every hop-up i can do so while i was in the process i just wanted to see if anyone on here had the .46 and if they had any problems with it. i have ran about 3/4 of a gallon of fuel through it and i must say that i can't complain i was just worried.....
 
I have a 4.6, but I haven't run it yet. I have never heard anyone complain about any of their engines.
If you 'heard' that from someone, he 'heard' it from someone else, or never bothered to break it in properly.
Do the right thing during break in, take care of it after running, and you should be very happy with it.
 
Oh ok, well I'm sure you will like what you bought...don't overthink it too much. Just remember your basic engine care, proper tuning, and you will be fine. Are you hearing this from local friends who have the same kit on their truck or something? Sometimes you have to take the good with the bad, and if anything let the negative comments lead to preventative care? If you are getting worried about this because of what random strangers said on a website you have got to remember, not everyone with the internet is an expert, or even a intermediate user.

You probably know well enough, if someone on this forum has a problem they are going to talk it out with other nitro heads to figure out what they can do to make it better. Sometimes factory flukes happen, that is with everything. A lot of the "I ran 1 gallon of fuel through it and boom" comments you see could be factory flukes, lack of care, stretching of the truth, etc...

Just remember, "I ran one gallon of fuel through it and it died" could actually have been more like, "I ran one gallon of fuel through it without ever letting it cool down during break in and it died after running 4 hours at 300+ degrees" or something like that, you get the picture.

Now, if you are at the track with your friend who you know takes good care of his rc and you trust his opinion, and while talking about how much he loves his truckzilla kit it spontaneously blows up on him maybe you would have more reason to be leary of the kit. Just saying... :)
 
Just to clarify things, he said he's talking about a .46 engine on the truckzilla and the savage having a stock 4.6 does not mean you could go back to your stock engine and have the same size. The HPI 4.6 is a .28 ci compared to the HotBodies .46 ci. It takes a lot more power to turn those big ole tires.
 
Dooh...you need to get another maxx....at least you understood engine sizes when you had one of those....

of all the things Rolex has lost he misses his mind the most....
 
lmao, I happen to be looking for my cells too, but I never can focus on anything long enough to start the search. Now what were we discussing for dinner ?
