For anyone that doesn't know, the truckzilla engine(.46) is really just a hellicopter engine built for an RC truck. I just was looking @ threads about them and every one is saying that they don't run good and they are hard to tune. Well, I just found out today from Erwin ( my LHS owner) that his friend puts helicopter fuel in his and it runs as fine as any other engine. He says it has alot of power and it's easy to tune with Heli. fuel, Just something I wanted to bring up.

Wow^^ Thanks for letting us know. I was going to mix my own fuel to get to the right blend...
So, how much synthetic/castor oil percentage is good for it?

Thanks for the link Red Dog. Hmm, 18% synthetic, no castor. So it must've been the castor that caused all the trouble and diaorrhea...
$70 for 4 gallons is very cheap indeed...

Are you going to try the .46 Truckzilla engine now? :)
I feel there's hope for it after reading this thread.

I agree there is some new hope for the Truckzilla. I still dont know which engine I am going to get but now I am more seriously looking at this one. I am going to talk to Erwin and see which engine he likes best since he seems to know quite alot obout them.

I'm so glad that you think this thread is helpfull, it's the first one that I posted that noone elst knew about, I wasn't sure if u all have heard of this. I was just hoping I wasn't saying something that everyone knew a long time ago. lol

P.S. I will ask Erwin(LHS owner) the specific fuel his friend runs next time I go up, just to be sure.

Red Dog: Let us know which engine you decide on :D

Andy: Thanks for that^^ If you could let me know the percentages of the oil content that would be great since I doubt I can find the brands they sell in the US here.

I had suspicions about the .46 engine being an aircraft/heli engine, but nobosy seem to mention it. Thunder Tiger EK4's .70 engine, however, is widely known for being a heli engine.
I wished Hot Bodies would tell everyone that it's a heli engine, therefore require heli fuel.

There's a store on the other side of the city (1.5 hours drive) that sells heli fuel with 20% synthetic oil (Klotz KL198). But I think I'll wait to hear from you before I make the long trip.

well, i think that if the US. brand name says 18% and u say that ur store has fuel with 20%, then I say try it and see how that works, it can't hurt the engine with a 2% difference.

Hmm, that's true. But I think I'll wait to hear from you for the exact blend that worked best^^ The minimum purchase is 4 liters (a bit over a US gallon) and if 20% doesn't work, it's gonna be a waste because I don't have a heli^^; I tried calling another shop, their heli fuel has 15% synthetic, 5% castor (and more expensive too). So I'm even more confused.

This could be good news for Zilla .46 engine owners. Mine is out of commission needing complete overhaul. This news however gives me motivation to rebuild it and see if it actually works. Thanks guys, and please keep us posted. Let everyone know if the heli mix makes a difference.

alright, i will talk to Erwin and ask his the exact blend of fuel.

cmon... i have the truckzilla kit. It runs very well. Another thing, it is a heli SIZE engine, and can be used on a heli, but, it was meant for a truck.

Tuning it was just as easy as the 21bb, just broke the pullstart on my 3rd rip, but then i got the roto on it and i was fine.

Thanks for the info. Trinity's Monster Horsepower? They just say 12% synthetic and castor blend, and not specify how much of each... (they don't sell those over here anyways)
I'm guessing that they use very little castor, because my engine runs a lot better when I switched from 0% synthetic/ 20% castor to 6% synthetic/ 8% castor blend. But it could be better, I still get oil dripping from the exhaust.

I've been searching for info on the Truckzilla conversion since I'm taking care of a bad air leak problem for someone with the .46. Interesting info with the heli fuel. Oddly enough, I have a nitro heli with a Thunder Tiger .46 in it. My heli fuel is Byron 15% with 16% synthetic/castor blend.
Heli engines blow a lot of smoke when they are running.. They need more lube, and have to run richer to maintain cooler temps since the engines don't get the air exposure they would on an airplane or in a buggy. I plan to stay with the fuel he's running now, till the air leak is taken care of and the carb has been re-tuned, but when he gets the car back I'll ask him to try a few tanks of my heli fuel and I'll get back to this thread with the results.

Ok Rolex we will see what happens when you try that heli fuel looking foward to hearing from you. Also everyone sorry about the delay, me and Andy have been pretty busy but I am going to call Erwin this weekend and see what blend of fuel he uses. I will get back to you on that shortly.

Thanks guys. Please be sure to ask how much of each (synthetic and castor) oil is in the blend. It seems that many fuel manufacturers keep these numbers secret... (eg. Trinity would just say 12% syn/cas blend)

Just get some Sidewinder backyard basher fuel it comes with 16% lube and 20% nitro. Tower Hobbies sells it.
