My .46 HB has been running hot 300 plus. The problem I had before was that the truck would only run about one tank and die. Then it was unable to be started again. so I switched fuel. I was rinning Bluethunder and switched to traxxs. temps are down to 250 but still dieing out and not starting again. The truck is very fast but not anywhere I think it should be compared to what Some people are saying on this site.

damn 300???? that is high...
I haven't gone past 250...
maybe you are running too lean...

when you run really high.. when the engine dies..
sometimes it is hard to start again..
too hot...

and if you are running a infared temp you are actually running like 310 or more..

I use a rod temp gun on mine to get a more acurate temp reading

i don't use the roto start anymore... I only used it for the break in...

I get it going on 1 pull with Trinity Platinum 20% Nitro...

It's interesting that you mention that about fuels. I'm not a big fan of blue thunder, however I've not had a bad experience with it either. Just personal preference not to use it is all. You seriously have to be running to lean. Which version of the savage do you have. Well is it the one with the primer tank if so you should remove your primer and use a screw and some shoe goo to fix it. My savage would not even idle through a half tank than die. Got the primerless tank and have been fine since. Late

well it's the savage 25. and even when it only got up to 250 it still wouldn't start, and the was w/ the traxxs topfuel 20%. as for the pull start it got broke about the 7th tank it was so hard to pull that even after all those tanks. I still had to put my foot on the rollbar. Could it be the glow plug(for the starting problem), bad carb(for the low performance), or is it all steming from the prblem of the heat. is it possible that somthing went wrong w/ brake in. I've locked motors up before and they ran fine after that. please reply. What kinda results did you TRDStreetFighter
out of your kit I'd like to compare to see if somthing may be wrong. thanks alot

You're lean...really lean. I'll bet what's happening is that it's barely running at full tank, then when the tank starts leaning towards half a tank, then it just doesn't have enough fuel and dies.

Can you see any smoke coming out of the exhaust? Have you done the pinch test when it's idling?

well if I richen it up it looks like a cropduster thats why I really don't know whyit would be lean. If It sits and idles it will leave a oil spot on the driveway. I've heard of the pinch test, but please refresh my memory.

When you pinch it, if it dies 2-3 seconds after, then it's set right. If it speeds up and dies, then it's rich, if it dies immediately, lean.

oh yeah, every tank will start to lean out somewhere around half a tank. I think it's because there's less tank pressure.

Called HB and they said send it in and we will send you a new one. They said that the first batch of .46 were not as good as the 2nd batch.

really? Is HB doing this for free?

Thats what they told me. That they would send one out for no charge. Of course I had to ship it to them. But thats pretty good deal

interesting to know.. I wonder if mine was the 2nd batch... I didn't get mine till the First week of Janurary...

they said that the exhaust was diff and they put shims under the head to reduce the compression. other than that I don't know what was diff.
