In the hopes of having someone to race around with, I have convinced a friend to purchase a nitro on road car.

Specifically, he is looking at the Trinity Reflex NT 1/10 Nitro Touring Car. Only problem is, neither of us know anything about it. How is aftermarket support? Are they decent cars?

Any other similiar cars that he could take a look at?

He is about as tied up for cash as I am, so anything you could suggest that is relativly cheap, with lots of aftermarket support would be appreciated.

I run a Reflex NT, very good car, pretty much a copy of the Kyosho V-one R. Infact alot of the parts from the kyosho fit the car. Sadly the Reflex is no longer made and some parts are hard to get.

Other very capable cars that won't break the bank are:
- HPI R40, it has a few issues, but parts are cheap and widely available.
- Team Magic G4, trinity used this to replace the reflex. Very close in design to the Reflex.
- Mugen MTX 4, a bit on the expensive side, but well worth it. Very nice car.
- And of course the Kyosho V-one R Series. Again a bit pricy, but worth it.

As far as aftermarket support, the mugen and the kyosho will probably have the most support. HPI does have some stuff for the R40 available. Really though, all of the above listed cars won't need much in hop ups per say, but will need to be fine tuned to your liking. Meaning Setup, shock oil, springs, clutch timing etc.

Dont forget the Ntc3, it could be made into a very race minded winner with some work. The price is right too.

Thank you Bryson, forgot about the Nitro TC3. It can do well as well. Also massive parts support. But it does tend to break a bit more with normal racing than the others.
