Yep it was my rusty. Rusty being rusty. Pretty normal.
if you got carpet tires theyll accept you. For normal club racing we can mix classes if needed, if we don't have enough people for a additional class. I ran my rusty with the 2wd spec buggies.
Most ST / Truggy guys, for our type of carpet is fuzz bites and swaggers. I'm running the same. For wheels I am running DE Racing T4.1 offset ST wheels. They work on the rustler, but the hex is just a little thin but works fine. (Grey EOS carpet - Europe Off-Road Series) We are supposed to get new carpet soon, because what we have now, the manufacture messed up, and its not supposed to shed carpet strings. Hopefully its the same but fixed carpet, or black CRC, but CRC will be alot more money time and effort to do. We are thinking of running 1/8 on the new carpet. They did 1/8 the last day of the old track and didn't really do any damage to the carpet.
The other guys for ST are running T6.2, T6.4, ET410/.2. We will mix ST, Truggy, and SCT if needed. The thing is that we never get enough people, its mostly 8 to 12 guy a club race night, and most guys run 2 classes at a time. We mostly do all 2wd 17.5 and 4wd 13.5 Bugs.
We did Mixed truggy and SCT once. And I seen a ST (T6.2) race with 2wd 17.5 Bugs once.

Yeah Bill, I remember TheJang working extensively with Rusty. At the time, '05-'06 I was campaigning my own Rusty in Bracket Class drag racing. I paid close attention to his detail in the build.

Nowadays, there are lots more aftermarket parts and upgrades available for the timeless Rustler. Hopefully, David in revisiting the Rustler in race mode can improve upon Jangs work and take it to the next level. Like to see Rusty on the podium like back in the day when TRX did race ST. Think Jason at JConcepts has a resto racing TRX ST. Haven't looked lately, but his website may even have a blog on it.

Cheers. 'AC'

If we can get together a mixed sct / truck / truggy class, it would be more fair. But me locally, its just buggies these days. Higher / wider stance basher type ST compared to modern, low/short stance 2wd comp buggies, aren't really fair/equal.

But, I was having issues like I put in my build thread so, that contributed to that, since 1 minute into the main, I lost steering (shock tower bolt backed out again) rx/tx cutting out, and transponder came unplugged.

At this point, sure I can still try to race the rusty/slash, but it isn't worth it for time and money. Might keep both as bash around cars, or sell them either for a 2wd Bug, or an actual sct/truck/truggy kit. Locals are pushing me to get a ET410 :hehe: One of my buddies has the new SCT410 2.0 in his cart right now.

Like @bill_delong said a couple months ago in one of my posts, inorder to race the slash, you have to be a pretty good driver, and a good setup, and for this high bite carpet, you need all of that.
