Is there a flat milled on the motor shaft for the grub screw to bite into? If so, is the pinion grub aligned so it mates to the milled flat? Is there any grooving on the motor shaft that indicates the shaft is turning inside the pinion until the grub leaves the flat and breaks? Are the threads in the pinion gear cut full length to ensure the grub screw fully engages the shaft? Is the grub screw the correct thread to match the pinion gear threads? Is the wrench used for tightening correct for the grub hex?

Just some thoughts based on personal experience. For what it's worth. Regards. 'AC'
Yes ot has a flat area on the motor shaft
Clean the grub screw and pinion with brake cleaner, put pinion in position, put a drop of thread lock in the grub screw hole in pinion, put in grub screw and allow to dry for 24 hours.
Thats exactly what in trying now i also got stronger grub screws to help

Another thing I do is snug the set screw, then back it off slightly and retighten slowly while rocking the pinion to ensure the set scew secures flush against the flat on the shaft. You ever seen a motor shaft where the grub dug in on one side more than the other? When the cupped point contacts the motor shaft, if the pinion is rotated slightly, the set screw can dig in on one side, and lock the pinion ever so slightly rotated. So gently snugging, loosening, rocking the pinion, and working the set screw down slowly settles the set screw nice and flat against the shaft. It is a bit OCD, anal, or whatever, but something I always do.

Pinion Gears
I got The Traxxas Sledge about 2 weeks ago and this thing is a BEAST the only problem I'm running into is I keep breaking the grub screw on the pinion gear causing the pinion gear to move on the motor shaft while driving any reccomendations for how I can fix this issue? I.e stronger grub screw, different type of grub screw, locktite pinion to the motor shaft exc. What would work best? It is powered by 6s
If and when you've given up on pinion gears... https://www.teknorc.com/?s=mod1+pinion+gear

I was watching the racing going on at Motorama 2026... again. The camera man zoomed in on one of truggies. I think he knew what he was doing when he did it, 'cause I didn't notice any other closeup shots during the whole event.

#7 decided to throw some proper tires on his Sledge...

I know Braden, he also raced a Jato in the ebuggy class. His whole race fleet is Traxxas, including the electronics.

does he run traxxas just cause or is he out there to prove that you can hang out with the big boys while only driving traxxas? how does he do?
Motorama had a Truggy Intermediate F Main... Braden, as you can see, made it into the C Main with his Sledge.
Motorama had a Buggy Intermediate H Main... Braden won the E Main and bumped up to the D Main with his Jato 4x4.
He was in the 4wd Short Course A1 Main as well. I'm assuming he was running a Slash 4x4.

I'm not sure why he only runs Traxxas, maybe to just be different. He has run other brands but it's been a while. He does pretty well them .
