My local RC shop is having a sale on the Traxxas Rustler tomorrow. Is it a good electric truck?

As long as it's the vxl. It has to be. Xl-5 goes for $160. You got a battery and a charger?

i have a quick charger no battery

You could start with the charger you have if your hurtin' for dough(who isn't) and a cheap 6 cell pack. Then save for a good charger. 50-70 bucks should cover ya there. A little more $ will get ya a lipo compatible charger so when your ready to step up, you'll have the charger already. Are you new to rc? Only asking 'cause if you are, nimh's will make ya smile for a little while. At least until you see the guy with the $200 lipo pack blazing at about 80mph! It's all about the budget.

If you want a 2 wheel drive st, then I would recommend the rustler. I've had one and a stampede for almost 15 years, and we beat them pretty hard. Usually make jumps out of full sheets of ply wood and big jack stands. Mostly flat bottom landings. If ya go with the rustler, expect to break the bulkhead every once in a while from bad landings. The grey ones might even be stronger than the old black ones. I've been through 3 the whole time I've had it. If ya land on the wheels most of the time, you won't have to many problems.

I hate to say one way or the other, but that's about what they go for around here. Does it come with any extras like a battery and charger? Every shop has different deals, but ya usually get what you pay for. I'll check some mags for reference.

They list at tower hobbies for $280 with the all the electronics and a painted body.

This just comes with the car and controller for $250. Yes i think its the VXL version but ill check.

If I was looking for a new vxl rustler, I'd hop on it. I'd try to come up with some extra cash to get a decent charger and a couple of 7 cells. If you want to go over 50mph, ya may need an 8cell pack and a bigger pinion. Talk to the hobby shop folks about that stuff; they'll be able to set you up.
