This is kimd of a stupid question but does anyone know of a universal roto start that will bolt right onto a traxxas pro 1.5 motor?

That^^^ roto start backplate will not fit the Pro.15 engine. It will fit the 2.5 & 3.3 engines but the Pro.15 backplate has a smaller bolt pattern.

AE makes one that will fit the Pro.15.

Could you possibly give me a link of what i need? I got a hpi mt2 with a blown motor and a pro 1.5 i wanted to put in but i wanna eliminate the easy start i think

Which version of the Ez Start do you have? If it's the EZ start version 2 then the back plate I showed to you will fit. I was pretty sure they were the same size between the .15, 2.5 and3.3.

not sure about size but the .15 takes a OWB that is 5 sided and 2.5 & 3.3 are differentonly 2 flat sides

You are correct the 2.5 and 3.3 are flat but the Savage has the same size start shaft. Just trying to find the backplate to go with roto start.

I do have alota of extra parts for the pro 1,5..if i had to id tap out new threads in the back plate but i gotta see if a savage one will b even close. I think i got the second version of easy start. Its the wand but the back of the easy start on the motor says pro 1,5

I actually have 2a diff roto starts that r off of a hpi 5.9 and the other came off of a ofna 3.5

The trx pro.15 uses a different pack plate spread pattern for attaching an ez start/pull start/roto start than the trx 2.5/3.3
The spread pattern of the roto start/ez start/pull start hole attachment on the pro.15 backplate is approx 1.5mm wider in total width and height than the ofna roto start backplate units you have.
You would need to narrow the spread pattern of the backplate inwards approx .75mm for the 3 screws that attach the unit. That’s not easy to do with a pre-existing tapped hole. You will end up with a figure 8 hole that will be very difficult to tap.
If you are willing to sacrifice the backplate, you could just drill it to fit the roto start unit and then just use nylock nuts on the back of the plate to attach the roto start with longer screws.

An easier alternative I use on a lot of on road cars with the smaller engines is to just remove the starter unit altogether and leave the bare starter shaft sticking out the back of the engine. I then use a hex OWB fixed in a socket attached to a flexible socket extension shaft and a cordless drill to start the engine.

So i figured out how to get the roto start to work on a traxxas pro 1.5 without much altering. I took a junk ofna 26 apart n the one way bearing fits the traxxas perfect. I had to flip the roto start assembly over to get the shaft in. took 1/2 inch machine thread pan head screws and slit the corners of the screw holes on the roto start with a hobby knife. the holes don't like up perfect but with some thread lock and wide head screws it works perfect! lol i had to had alter 2 diff clutches to get it to work with the steel gears provided on the hpi i bought. This truck has some true non-Caucasian-manipulation done to it!
