Now I thought hard about a deep v fast enough to be fun monohull, but 4s single battery pack capable, and self righting. I had the proboat jetstream, so I was invested in ec5 connector batteries, and wanted batteries to interchange, so that limited me on battery height. I had the s155 spectrum charger.

That moved me to look at traxxas disruptor 4s 26" self righting boat.
After running boat on 3s 5800 I had some chine walking.. 4s 5000 and 5800 chine disco dance and break dance backflips..so into the other hobby accessories and glued 6 148 grain 38 special full wadcutters in transom for ballast.

The chine walk on 3s very minimal, with the smc 5800 it settles down after a little voltage used..on 4s the breakdance backfilp move gone with spectrum g2 5000 and smc 5800 but the chine disco dance is there.
This with stock plastic prop and stainless traxxas prop. Rooster tail looks good, temps on esc, motor, batteries look good..

Now the trim tab and turn fins are small..20x20 ..like for a 18" boat..so I was going to put 30x50 OSE ones for a spartan and put the small OSE turn fins on. I was also going to switch out the rudder to an aluminum pivoting style spartan one instead of the fixed composite stock one.

30x50 OSE spartan trim tabs

OSE small turn fins

Aluminum strut bracket, aluminum rudder bracket and rudder mount and pivot arm,
Spare coupler, 2 spare driveshafts and drive dogs, spare hatch seal, spare stainless prop, adjustable trim tabs 30x50 spartan, small turn fins,
Spare stuffing tube and liner, spare stuffing tube seal, spare strut and bearings..spare drain plug, all on the way..

Is there anything else I'm missing for parts and maintenance? I have grease..and ca glue..

Ok, small ose turn fins, as well..
Watching those ironclad rc videos, and seeing how his recoil2 is setup (Pic below) I'm wanting to do something similar. Parts should be here mid week..

Now a motor kv question or rpm..
2300kv which I have, and 2550kv..
On 4s that's 4k rpm diffrence..how does that play into prop pitch and size?

Granted that may be a later question after the chine disco dance on 4s is solved..

But..that 3 blade prop does look sexy...

Ok, I'm still waiting on trim tabs, they should be here first of the week. Now the aluminum rudder bracket was too long by almost an inch, i used the one for the spartan (5742x) instead of the disruptor, (10639) so thats my mistake , so a little modification for deployment made with a hacksaw and a drill. I still need to cut a slot for the bottom screw on the rudder pivot to make it be able to swing away.. it's marked but not cut. The strut brackets seem to provide a bit more adjustment. Yes the turn fins are held by 1 screw at this point, they go in a threaded boss in the transom using an existing tab/turn fin hole. I was hoping to square the radius off the ends, and but them up against the trim tabs to avoid rotation and use the other existing hole and boss for the new trim tabs, yes I'll have to drill a other hole, but I'll deal with that as it comes. (that and a dab of 5200 marine adhesive)

So this is where it is so far..I'll put a dab of paint on the exposed cuts and such to get it more finished looking.. I wouldn't be surprised if I have to radius a few more brackets for the trim tabs..before it's over.

Probably none, I was in short supply of the noobie throttle finesse though.
Plenty of videos of it running out of the box with no changes.

But I live in hold my beer and watch this land, and keeping the transom in the water by adding 6 thirty eight special powder coated 148 grain wadcutters to it seemed like a good idea at the time to get it to hold on loosely a little bit more.

I could have stopped there, and been happy. But I never liked disco in the 80's, so I wanted to see if bigger trim tabs would help settle the chine walk on 4s, you know kind of like the possum crossing the road just to show the armadillo it could be done theory.. then me being more enthusiastic about metal vs plastic parts and all that..

It could be as simple as I'm a noobie as well, and wanted as much tunability as I could, and seeing other larger boats and noticing their trim tab and turn fin setups in relation to the keel, made me go hmmmmm..

Cool! I would enjoy running an rc boat I think but I'd like to keep it simple at least to start.
If I was close to water, sure, lets tinker and build drag boats!
I love wrenching and doing things that can't be done. 🤣 😎 👍
