Well I was runnin the maxx today and all of a sudden it cuts off and I find this mess,Motor mess

The motor was tuned right and has had about 2 1/2 gallons ran through it. Was it just time for a rebuild? I also noticed what seems to be a leak out of the EZ start? What's this from? I'm also trying to find a rebuild kit (piston/sleeve/conn. rod) but can't find any. Is the kit for th TRX 2.5 the same one? I really don't think so. Thanks.

I already looked at that. Too bad I could by a whole new motor for the prices they want for the parts. $50 for a conn rod and $123 for a piston/sleeve. I only paid $175 for the motor new.

man looks liek that is dirt. u can go off of ebay and get it for like $60, the whole rebuild

The replacement part prices for a Sirio are a killer.

Looks like pieces of aluminum. The con rod is probably hosed. Seen that happen before.

Unfortunately it comes with the territory.

If all fails you can puchase from Trinity.
You can probably get a better price elsewhere.
http://www.teamtrinity.com/nitro/engines/sirio/sirio.asp

look under parts listings middle of the page.

THose prices on their site are Insane...most of my LHS will match or beat the net and they sell the Sirio .18 for $180-189. Now I'm curious though they list the Siro .18 as having 7 ports and then in the discription with picture it says 5 ports...which is it??

Maxx - YOu can find good rebuilds on E-bay but if your Con rod is shot I would do the Sirio Piston/Sleeve and rod.

Peace

If I remember correctly the original version had 5 ports and the new one is eight including exhaust.

Well damn, now I find out. So I'm assuming that I have a 5 port in the 4-Tec that I sold and I obviously want the 7/8 port for my maxx. WTF, I need to find some kind of sereial number to check for on the engines @ my lhs..aahhhh.

THanks bro

All of the new 18's shipped in the last 8 months or so are the 8 port. It should say in the included spec sheet.

Now I'm really, really confused bro...sorry. Tower lists the new Original version as having 7 ports in stock for $209.99. Tower lists the T-maxx .18 3.0 for #189.99 on order. Where do you get 8 ports from?? Can both of these motors be used with the stock T-maxx cluth and motor mout?? Can both of these motors use the EZ-Start 2 system??

Phuck I'm confused about this...sorry

NB the answer is yes. My one and only experience was the newer version 7 port. 7+ 1 exhaust=8.

Sorry I was confusing the issue.

I was still thinking about the parts listing where they reffer to the sleeve as 8 ports.

I want to see your bad mofo.

Yep, it's pieces of the conn rod. I have searched eBay but no luck. That was the first place I checked. Now I'm debating on if I should just buy a new motor or even a new truck, this would be the perfect excuse.

Ya might consider a big block conversion. I drive a Savage, but there are some guys on here that could help with the how-to's on a BB conversion. The Hyper 21 8P would be a good choice, and the whole conversion might be a tad less than replacing the Sirio. Just a thought.

Well I decided to sell the Maxx. My sig tells the story. I broke even compared to if I would have rebuilt the Maxx so I'm happy.

Your engine was too lean. It's not completely your fault, the cylinder head is way too small for this truck. Good news bad news. You can buy the parts to rebuild it from Tower hobbies, thats the good news. The bad news is you can buy a complete new engine from ebay for abut the same money. Question is why would you want to? There are much better engines available. Hope this helps.
