Is the 4909 transmission the same case and gears as the 4908? Just wondering cause I am going to upgrade to a 3.3 tranny but not sure if they are the same, ebay has alot but most of them are 4908 transmissions and I have a 2.5 chasis

The two transmissions are different. You can actually make internal gearing adjustments to the new transmission whereas you could not with the old one. Optidrive is for the reverse mechanism and isn't necessary to use the newer transmission in your truck.
