transmission question...

alright, i finally got my used revo tuned up, repaired, and out on the grass. i went through most of a tank with no problems, no jumping, took it off a curb once and basically just a lot of driving around learning how to control it...


then all of a sudden it locked up, motor stayed running, throttle servo was responding, but the car would not move (forward or reverse) i lifted the front and rear separately, and the whole car at once, and neither diff wants to move independent of the other so I'm assuming its the transmission.
getting a little frustrated i let the car drop onto the tires from about a foot, and after that, the car will freely roll backwards (no resistance at all) and will roll forwards with a nice clicking noise if i push it. (still no response to throttle)

I'm going to assume its the transmission, but I'm new and dont know anything about the clutches etc. and want to know what to look for as i start pulling it apart..........

Yep, sounds like you sheared the teeth off a gear in the trans. Or, the trans isn't fully engaged in forward or reverse.

snagged a new trans with the foc installed (from the model that came with it) on ebay pretty cheap, while its apart i will also check out the clutch, but hopefully this one wont be too long of a down time
