just bought a tmaxx 2.5 off someone when it goes to shift into 2nd it stalls. i changed to a later shift point and it still does the same thing. any sugestions? exchanging my 2.5 for the 2.5r will a new engine help?:\

Have you checked the clutch? It might need to be loosened. I dont KNOW you might want to wait for someone thats a bit more knowledgeable.

i can tell you that a new engine wont help, the problem is in the tranny, take the tranny apart and make sure nothing is getting hung up in there, i had a problem similar to this with my savage, and the problem was that the adjustment screw in the 2nd gear worked its way out and when it shifted into second it would get hung up on the housing, but you may want to wait for someone with tmaxx expierence

I have a Tmaxx that will not shift into second gear. I have leaned the motor out to get the RPMs up, but will still not shift into second. Any suggestions?

Could be that the one way bearing inside the two speed is bad. It's supposed to allow the first gear to spin once the pawl engages the second gear. If it's jammed, and 2nd gear kicks it, it will essentially lock the tranny until 2nd lets go (which would kill your engine). If it is bad, I'd replace both the bearing and the shaft it spins on.

Slipper too loose or 2spd needs adjusted to shift earlier. A loose slipper won't let the torque make it to the trans to hold second if it does get to it.

Well, if there are two trucks, you can tell easily by the speed of one working vs one not working. On a single truck, you kind have to go by sound and the speed you "think" it should be going.

I have yet to have a truck with a shifting mechanism that was so smooth you couldn't hear it engage from first to second. What you are listening for is the engine.
