big block, factory trans, was running it after adding the digital servo's and it just came to a stop. engine was running, if I clicked the brake the engine rpm sprayed the same. The truck won't even roll, if you force it, it clunks hard. Is this transmission/clutch/diff's, all the above? I know robinson is the way to go parts wise. Is there a place that sells the robinson transmission already asssembled vs. buying the parts and assembling it myself? Any input would be appreciated.

Robinson only makes the gear sets. You install them in the current case.

I know they only make the product. From what I described, does it sound trans related? Clutch??? The truck spins the tires easily even at 30mph from drop of throttle to wot with the digital servo's. The servo's really made a difference performance wise. It would be nice to find a trans for sale already built I could just swap out. Best price I found for the gears was $95, which I can get for $100 at my local hobby shop, $5 more bucks vs. no waiting time for shipping is worth it. It just frustrating. Upgraded radio and everything, 20 mins of fun and poof. Where is the best place to find bullet proof axles = to robinson transmission? Might as well do this as they are bound to go sooner or later, i'd rather fix an issue before it occurs. Running a .21 vzb big block and it's tuned on 30% with an osp7 plug.

Well, I'm running an LRP28S3 in my revo and recently upgraded some of the gears to RRP. Diffs are stock, axles are stock, two speed top shaft and two speed spur gears are now RRP steel. Traxxas FOC installed. Been doing fine for a few bash days now since I upgraded the two speed spurs.

You didn't mention if you had an FOC or not. If not, I would.

Sounds like maybe some gears ground up in the trans and plastic bits are jamming up the remaining gears.

foc= forward only control??? I don't know the term. It has reverse added to it, the servo locked up after 2 mins of use over 5 months ago and was disabled. I know with the robinson trans gears reverse is eliminated. The truck has enough power to climb over any curb or get around any obstruction in it's way minus a bush, LOL. I don't want to play the 1 month of joy, and then a problem, 1 month joy, etc. I'd rather just go robinson full trans and call that bullet proof, I have the new billet clutch shoes already, only question is axles, what are the strongest axle sets to go with, front/rear?

FOC= forward only conversion. Just means to remove reverse and is strongly recommended for big block engines

The truck had reverse added, and after the BB conversion reverse lasted for maybe 2 uses and then the servo locked up. I have all the old parts or does the kit come with eerything I need for FOC or do I need to find my old parts also?

The FOC comes with everything you need. By leaving the reverse gears in, it makes the trans weaker

Ok so the kit has it all, I don't need to find my old parts from when I converted to reverse, that is what I'm wondering. As i don't know where the parts are and don't want to pay anymore. The Robinson kit is all I need for FOC and bullet proof trans?

I don't think you have to. At most, you may need a new output shaft, but it looks like the RRP kit may go right in with stock 2-speed+reverse type trans. The kit converts it to a forward only trans as well.

Standard ratio:http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXSDP9&P=ML
Wide ratio: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXSDR0&P=7

With a big block, many people go with a wide ratio gear. If I remember correctly, the 2nd speed gears have a different tooth count than stock to make the ratio a bit taller for more speed. It increases the speed gap between 1st and 2nd gears quite a bit. With a big block, you have enough torque to pull a taller gear than stock.

Personally, I don't like the wide ratio. It causes it to slam much harder into 2nd gear which isn't good for anything if your aiming for durability. Which is all I aim for as a basher. When I bought the RRP 2 speed gears (spurs and input shaft pinions), I went with the standard ratio set and geared the spur/cb a bit taller to offset the torque a bit.

For axles, I'd really just stick with stock and keep a spare center set and outer arm set on hand. Aftermarket axles are stronger, but they are a high wear item. Over time, the pins in the cvd's wear out, snap, or the axle holes themselves get sloppy and wear out. The stock axles work just fine for me.

Whats a 2 speed spur ???

They are the larger 2 speed gears inside the trans. I normally refer to them as "two speed spurs" so as not to confuse the reader with the two speed gears on the input shaft. That's what I call them, but they probably have a proper term.

It's the trans!!!

I'm going with the wide ratio.

This beast hauled ass before, I swear it would hit 60mph in 4 seconds if I could keep it in control.

Truck will be back on the street next week with the new trans, and then it's time for some serious bashing. I live next to a skate board park and there are some good 4 foot cliffs I would jump the rig off of. I am also adding stiffer front springs/oil, and a new osp7 just for performance sake.

When it comes to a clutch and shoes, what is the best of the best? Handle and take the power/abuse, as my clutch and or shoes are already wearing after 2-3 hours of run time since the BB conversion, truck was new when I did the swap.
