tranny questions

hey yall what are the differences in the 2.5 and 3.3 tranny..... i can't tell from pictures and dont wanna order a 3.3 unless itll work....I'm gunna try to put it on a dynamite big block chassis....and use my robinson spur gear from my 2.5 on it....will it work???

oh yeah by the way itll have .21 on it

Everything about the two transmissions is different. Your old spur gear will not work and you will also need a new front shaft because the brake set-up is very different. The 3.3 tranny is stronger than the old 2.5 though.

so since I'm goin to the new chassis does it mount the same as the old one and i guess all i need to get along with the new 3.3 tranny is a new spur gear and the FOC kit...from robinson...right....but it should work with my .21 right???

Yes it mounts up the same way as the old tranny did no problems there. Before yu buy a FOC make sure the one you are getting is not already. Most of the new style trannys are already forward only. It should work yes....Oh yeah also new bell gear for the engine since the spur gear is a different pitch now too.

yes the tras may be foward only already if its the new 4907 or 4908 modle but the kit from robinson is metel steel gears if its the same kit i looked at from them ! and if running a big motor i would go with them ! hope this helps

yeah yall i appreciate it.....i have decided to go with the 3.3 tranny and get the upgraded gear set....but at least now i know i dont have to get the whole kit just a few peices.....so thanks you guys

You'll need a new rear shaft too, the trans output is 1mm larger on a 3.3 trans.....same size as the diff ins and outs.
