well i was out breakin in my new 2.5 (1st tank) and when it takes off slowly the tranny clicks or klunks whatever it is then it goes away it doesn't do it if i take of fast just smoothly is this a common thing in MAXX's will it go away after the gear are broken in or is it something i should worry about

thanx for all the help

a couple of guys i work with have the t-maxx and they said its just the clutch engaging? i dont know if thats true or not but it could be cause when they have there idle up too high it does the same thing

Yes this is normal for the T-Maxx.
Once you get a half to a full gallon into her and shes fully broken in it will not be as bad. What you are experiencing is not only the clutch on the engine engaging but the internal clutch of the transmission. Once they brake in and wear / seat properly it will smooth way out.

Once you decide to start upgrading you may want to go with a forward only transmission conversion and rid yourself of about half of the transmission parts and get a 0 lag time out of the gate.

In the meantime just hang in there and have fun.

lol hope i will i was on the 4th tank and i was truning to come back and it caught a ridge or suttin flipped 4 times and i managed to snap a steering knuckle thing in the back b4 I'm even done with break in so I'm headin out to my LHS now

I don't think it will ever go away. It's a design issue in the trans. If you get a forward only conversion (FOC) this goes away completely. The engaging from a dead stop is on the reverse shaft. There are pawls (fingers) in it that as rpms pick up they stick out. Until you have sufficient rpms, the don't stay out. This in turn, results as ticking or a lurching on take off.

I would highly recommend the FOC as it puts less of a slamming strain on the whole driveline of the truck. It's a relatively cheap mod ($12 i think) and it will save you heartache in the future.

It goes away when the truck is properly broken in. Aout a gallon of fuel through the truck usually does the trick. Mine stopped jittering like that pretty early on. Guess I got lucky.
