I know I know, "there is no tranny fluid", but would it hurt/help to put some fluid in there? It just seems to me that grease isn't a good enuf lubricant. Is there something else I could use?

I would not do it. After time I get small metal fragments in mine from the top gear. If kept dry they all pretty much fall to the bottom of the tranny and do no damage. If the gears were lubed the fragments would stick and chew everything up. I say leave it dry. HPI did this for a reason, not sure what it is, but why temp fate.

The transmission is meant to be run dry. The only place you want any lubrication at all is inside the sealed differentials.

I know I put a light coat of white lithium grease on mine when I pulled it apart... the one time I pulled it apart in 16 gallons of use. She ain't no t-maxx! That's for sure!
