Tranmission, is it crap?

Eddy the forward gears are different gears and the reverse are removed all together. Along with the optidrive and mini servo. So you lose some weight and also rotational mass associated with in the different gears. That will give you the smoother launch and faster acceleration. I was quite suprised actually at the response. After I did it I was like, why didn't you do that sooner!

Asked about Cen parts....we don't wanna carry them cause they make crap.
I think they might be right on, with this one though.. Duratrax is a step above Cen.. Granted its a small step but its a step up..lol..

I also heavnt heard any cons from the revo. Seems to be a all around good truck. Good on the track and good to bash with. Oh I guess the only con I hear was the motors like to get hot and sometimes hard to tune, but thats kinda a gimme when it comes to a traxxas mill.

LOL
Thats the same way I felt when I did the conversion on my T-Maxx. So far, 99% of my Revo is still stock. I bash the hell out of it but the damn thing just wont brake. Ill do the FOC when I have a need to take it all apart to repair something. Ill do it just for the simple fact I don't like the opti-drive setup.

The Revo is my most used RC and the one I know the least about. I usually research issues as my RC brake and go from there. All I can say is I don't mind being Revo stupid at this point.

No problembs with mine except... doing wheellies in reverse constantly will strip the reverse gear!

So I change my mind... tranny is good but a metal reverse gear would be better!

I think the LHS might have been referring to the T-Maxx trans. I have had my T-Maxx trans apart a few times for eaten gears.

On my Revo, the only reason why I ever had the trans off the chassis was to replace the slipper clutch. For some reason mine decided to eat the little pads up.

And I'll keep my reverse. I don't race my Revo and I am just crappy enough of a driver that I need reverse most days. Maybe one day I will try out the FOC if I have to crack the Revo trans case for another reason, though. I wan't to see what JetMech was saying about noticing a difference.

I was all on-road until the Revo came out and the monocoque setup (F1 like) had me. My NTC3 doesn't get near the action anymore. You can remove the optidrive if you do the FOC or not, it makes no difference, you just have to watch that you are completely stopped before you switch into or out of reverse. I got tired of messing with the stupid micro servo's, had to go titsup on me, then said it's time to lighten this baby up. FOC is one of the best mods you can do to your Revo, IMO and it's only like $12. If your really desperate for some cake you can sell the poop you remove and get some of your money back. Me, I just gave away my optidrive to someone that needed it, I think on this board. BTW, Eddy, I know you got all kinds of cash laying around, you may want to get one of those RD Quick Turn shafts, awesome if you plan to race at all!

I dont understand why people told me that the revo's tranmission sucks, I think the revo is the best nitro monster truck and the LST is not bad etheir.

Nitro_Fanatic it was one person at our hobby shop who said this and that is one person out of all the revo owners who got a bad transmission. And where have you been Nitro_Fanatic everytime I come online your off.

I havent had any issues with my Tanny in my Revo yet...I think they are very, very solid trucks. Plus the suspension on them is the best on the market in my opinion and you can make ALOT of adjustments to the suspension....The FOC kit is one of the best upgrades you can do to a Revo, yeah you lose the reverse option but it's worth it to me...The FOC kit made a huge difference in my truck, one you ditch all the reverse gears in the tranny the truck just seems alot quicker. You do eliminate alot of moving mass inside the tranny so you gain some power from it.
I looked at all the Monster Trucks on the market before I bought my Revo, but I just really liked the Revo design and the amount of aftermarket upgrades for it, no other Monster Truck "except for the T-Maxx" has as many upgradable parts on the market as the Revo from what I've seen...You can change every single piece on this truck with aftermarket parts if you want to.
For my money the Revo was the way to go...And I wouldnt put to much stock in what your LHS is telling you about the Revo being junk...My LHS can't keep them instock they sell so fast around here....

I go to the same hobby shop as nitro_fanatic and the hobby shop doesn't have the revo because one person started to complain about the transmission.

Well it's possible to get a lemon in anything...So maybe one person did get a Revo with a bad tranny, I can see that happening....
But then again maybe that one person did something to it to cause t he tranny to screw up...You know alot of people dont like to admit it when they've been messing with something and break it. I use to work at one of the largest paintball stores in the midwest and I saw that on a daily basis where someone would buy something then take it home, tear it apart then put it back together wrong then come back saying it was junk. It happens but most people on here will tell you that the Revo is a really good truck...I love mine.

Hey Jato do you think our LHS will order in more revos because I've heard alot of people on this forum that the revo is da way to go! I'm sure Iwont get any problems with the tranmission. And whats a good upgrade for the revo execpt new rockers for the suspension that I know of?

Well nitro_fanatic our hobby shop probable will order one but this may be interesting to here was just there yesterday and they finally got a JATO!!!!!!!

Hey Nitro, if they have to order it and they are giving you bad advice like saying it's a pos, why not order from someone else like a forum sponsor (RushRc) or someone else.

I dont trust any mail stuff I prefer getting my stuff in person.
Plus you have to pay extra money for shipping and most of prices I see are american.

nitro_fanatic is a cheap bastered he my friend from school and we work together.
