Hello folks,
It was another hard night at the track but a good learning experience.
To start off I took the advice of a few of you and at least partially tore down the truck. I hadn't had time to get to my LHS so I sanded and filed down the clutch I had in hopes of getting just a little more life out of it. While I was at it I also took off just 1/8th of an inch off teh total length of it. I did my cleaning and inspection then put everyting all back together. Everything seemed great! I had so much better performance and was tickled to get out to the track.
When I did get to the track I did my warm ups and tweaks and was ready for a good night of racing. Well, on my last warm up lap I over steered up on to one of the PVC bariers. I gave a couple bursts to try to get off and two of my tires came unglued. Well I of course forgot my CA and had to go around and borrow. By the time I found some, glued the tires, and got out to the track the heat had already started.
As I hammered up the main straight some one crashed and a cmarshall went out to help, then decided to fix the broken truck on the track. I tried to steer around him but hit him and broke a tie rod end.
After I fixed the rod end and started warming up again I noticed the tune had gone to crap. I did all that I could to it but ended up running up not even able to get out of low gear durring the whole next heat. Turns out my clutch was sticking again. I got one at the LHS on the way to the track fortuantely and was good to go. I just had enough time to put it in and make the main.
Since the tune had been so distorted because of the old clutch I had retune durring warm ups. Only had time for the HSN. I ended up running in first again so I was pretty much out of the running but since all the hot dogs couldn't keep it on the track, I ended up OK. 3rd in points and still chugging...
