has anyone used one of these top plates from native racing the link is www.remotecontrolhobby.com sorry I don't know the proper way to post a link. I was just wondering if any of you guys were using one and if so how you liked it. I was thinking of buying one but i didn't know how much wait it would add.

Honestly, I dont think it is worth the money. And as for it saving an hours worth of work, well, they must have some REAL slow workers that came up with that number. Takes me less than 10 minutes to pull that stock upper plate off. This is on the Drake edition though. I dont think it is different by much on the stock.

Just my 2 cents.

Top PLate

The top plat ewas designed to make the truck much easier to work on.Tghe servo can be removed by taking out 2 scews. This makes replacing your servo very very fast.It willl also allow you to get the gas tank out through the top instead of having to pulll the entire deck off. This is most definately a time saving feature. Those who have bought the top plate calll back telling how happy they are that they got it.Also has a built in transponder mount. The plate weighs the same as stock.Just makes working on the truck a whole lot easier. You gotta have it to know about it.

I dont doubt it makes it easier. I'm certain it does! However, the statement on the news page is not accurate.

http://www.remotecontrolhobby.com/news.html

"It will take you minutes not hours to do the same task with our top plate."

For racers I'm certain your top plate is a nice hopup to have. If you had to replace your tank or servo inbetween mains etc., you would want it to be easier and faster. But for the every day basher, runner and ocassional track racer, I dont see it being a necessity.

If you would like to send me one to conduct a comprehensive review I would be more than happy to.

Thanks

Thank you for the constructive criticism. We need input from people all over to make the products we selll better. You included.I am going to look into the directions and the final fit of the current batch and make sure alll is good.I never had a problem with mine but it came from a completely different batch(THE FIRST)There is one thing that makes getting it on and off easier.Instead of using the supplied long screws, get yourself some lond set screws and leave them attached to the shock tower. Then use 4/40 nuts to hold the top plate on.This willl make it alot easier to insert the metal spacers.Only those who have it will understand what this giberish means. Thanks for your time and your interest in our products.:)

Are you the product engineer? Company owner? Machinist?

Either way, I will drop you an email with some detailed pictures of the problem I encountered with the battery box. Mind you, it is mounted now without much issue.

Now back to the top plate. If you would be so kind as to send me a demo unit (I will send it back) I would be more than happy to mount it up and report issues, if any, and provide constructive criticisms as well. As far as the statement made to sell the product, I find it misleading. It in no way takes hours, much less one hour, to pull the stock plate. At least on the Adam Drake edition. It literally took me 20 minutes total to swap tanks and that was with some comprehensive cleaning of the chassis in the process. I'm curious as well as to how the tank mounts up with the rubber grommets (made to reduce bubbles in the tank) if the tank just mounts to the top. Again, I would like to do a review.

Who knows, I may just want to buy it after I check it out. I'm not an avid track racer though and do not need to be able to swap servos or tanks within a couple minute timeframe. I can spare the 20 minutes.

Lastly, how much does it add in terms of weight? What is the difference between the stock plastic, graphite and yours ??? This is one question I know a lot of us want answered as well.

Keep us posted!

Yes I would like to know if it wieghes more than the graphite plate or not. Also to my understanding you can change where the servo mounts to change handling characteristics. If it doesn't weigh any more than the graphite I would definitly be interested, but if it adds a bunch of weight no thanks

wEIGHT

The top deck weighs the same as stock. The graphite is a little bit lighter but the Carbon Fiber version of the Top Plate is the answer to that.Looks very killer and is very light.Sorry about the slow reply.I have been away from the computer for a while

hey that sounds like a winner, I didn't see a carbon fiber one on the website I will have to look again. I would definelty be interested in one that is just as light as graphite. Thanks

hey jimmimaxx I just looked on native racing's webb site and I couldn't find the graphite version of the top plate. Is it available now or is it somthing coming in the near future?
