I ended up doing another oil collecting contract job today. It was a nice overcast day for a drive 2-hours to the coastal city of Corpus Christi. I had a little bit of time after the job so I decided to go and see the little place called NAS Corpus Christi and see what there was to see that wouldn't get me into trouble. Being an airplane buff guess what I found near the exchange...

A TA-4J that trained pilots there once upon a time. And then there was this one right near it:

A nicely displayed F/A-18 painted as a Blue Angel. It's really great to be able to see these historic birds on display, even if they're not flyable.
 
My dad was a pilot and his Piper Cherokee ate him alive in maintenance, insurance and hangar rental, he told me. I had a lot of fun flying with him, but two 500 lb gorillas don't fit well in a rented Cessna 152....
