For those of you that don't know me, I have a 2.5 T-Maxx that I got in January. I'm going to be upgrading the motor soon, so I got a 3.3 tranny.

I just got my new 3.3 tranny in the mail, and I also got my new opti-drive module in the mail too. I'm a bit confused as to if I need to use opti drive and what other changes I need to make. It is my understanding that the trucks that use opti drive use it to get rid of weight and some mechanical reverse stuff and save weight. So here's my question. Do I use the opti-drive module? If I use the opti drive module, do i take off some other stuff. Can I just use what I have and swap in the 3.3 and still have reverse? Does the FOC increase performance or mainly just save weight??

Thanks for your time, gosh just when I understand why my truck does what it does, I change something and it no longer does that for that reason. :ponder2:

opti drive is only if you want reverse. doing a FOC will help with strength because there are less moving gears, as well as increase the power of the truck due to less moving parts or rotational mass. The fact that you also remove some weight also helps. I ditched to opti drive in leu of a FOC. It is a lot more reliable in my eyes and is one less gear you have to worry about stripping.
not to mention the fact that you will gain some top end

If I keep the reverse and use the opti-drive, do I need to change anything with the servos and stuff, or do I just plug in the optidrive and leave the servos and linkage hooked up like they are on the 2.5?

you should just leave everything how it is and hook up the optidrive. I woudl advise against it though. You will find out that a FOC is much stronger and you get better throttle response!!

ok thanks 3.3 When I order my new Robinson gears, I'm going to get an FOC while I'm at it, but I was trying to figure out what I should do until then. You've been a lot of help with the matter!
