I purchased a nice 8 cell 4600. I have a charger that will charge it at 1.8 amps. The battery calls for 2.8 amps. Will using this charger have any long term ill effects on the pack? I only plan on using it for a few weeks and seldom at that. Maybe 10 times at the most. I've also heard that nimh's have no memory effect and to NOT run them until the truck stops. I usually stop once it slows considerably. I figure that's my best bet. One last thing, the battery gets pretty warm when I run it(only once). Never to hot to grab and hold on to. I have no temp gauge and won't for a few weeks. Any red flags here? I know I'm asking a lot here and all advice is totally appreciated!

It all sounds pretty normal to me. What are you running it in? Charging at lower amps is fine. It will just take longer to charge. I charge my 3800's at 3.5 amps lol. I have always been told .1 - 100mah is safe so for a 4600 for that theory it should be ok to charge them at 4.6 amps. Don't quote me on that though. I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

batteries heating up is normal. they will do that if you use them for thier full charge. charging on low amps might even prolong your batteries life.

That's what I was thinking. Thanks for the piece of mind! I always let them cool off all the way before charging, so I think I'll be ok.

It's an old rustler with a super rooster, 12t titian, 2.8 talons off a pede. 25-76 gearing.

Just an FYI your gearing seems very high for the combo you are running, you would get lower battery, motor, and esc temps if you run a smaller pinion gear or a larger spur gear, you must have one hell of a top end on that thing with your current gearing, but it also putting a lot of load on all your electronics, just from experiance racing stadium trucks we ran smaller pinions like 14-18 on lower turn motors such as a 12t and larger pinions on 27t stock motors like 18-22 with a 87t spur gear, but your tranny gearing may be a lot different then mine was on my RC10T3.....but I guess with 8 cells you might be ok, but your super rooster might not like it for to long unless it is rated for that kind of voltage....
