Ok. I'm going to try taking my TMaxx apart for the first time. Just bought it used. Now I'm looking to you guys to help me along if I need it, ok? Ok..what do I need to totally tear the truck down, inspect it and clean it? Also, how do I know what diff fluid (if any) and how much to use? Believe me, I know nothing of doing this but I am a little mechanically inclined. Tell me what tools, what fluids, lubs etc and off I go. Are there any new parts I should have right off the bat? Also, what oil do I use for the air filter? I have the part breakdown and the manual. Not too informative when it comes to shock break down, fluids etc.

I can only answer one of those questions because I havent ran a maxx or even seen one run it person. I do know that this air filter oil works good http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXVH20&P=ML I dont know if you know about after run oil yet but your gonna want to put 3-4 drops of this http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDR80&P=ML into the glow pug hole after every race day or after you get home from the bashing site. After you put the oil in turn the engine over a couple of times. Dont forget to put the piston at bottom dead center while you let your engine cool.

Well, you will need a phillips screwdriver (if all the screws are stock)... i hate those, so you should buy a screw kit or something to convert over to allen screws. The diffs are not sealed, therefore do not use any oil, just a little grease inside, and out on the ring gear. Make sure to buy an Ofna shim kit (i dont know which one, so someone should chime in and say) to shim the diffs. You should have some new shock oil if you dont already and maybe some new o-rings for them. For cleaning plastic i like to use a 50-50 solution of warm water and simple green, and a little toothbrush or something. Just pour the stuff into a little tub or bucket and dump your parts in there. When you dry the plastic, give em a little coat of WD-40 and let em sit for a few mins, then wipe em off... It makes the dirt a lot easier to clean off the next time around, and makes them shine better than new. Off course, while you are taking things apart, make sure nothing is bent or stripped. On the screws that go into plastic, use a little silicone on them to make em not want to back out on you durning use.

When you put it back together make sure you put the axles in the same way they came out, because if you flip them they will go backwards on you lol

Also if you can afford it while you have it apart I would suggest getting some Rpm A-arms the stock ones are weak and the rmp ones will take a major beating well worth the money and they are fairly reasonable. ALso the bulkheads where the a-arms connect to the truck are also weak. Alumnium ones would be a really great upgrade there too. Just something to think about while you have it apart.

get an FOC kit...it's a Forward Only Conversion....it will make running a lot easier as you eliminate typical "issues" w/ a stock T-maxx....also RPM arms are a good upgrade to do as they are just beefy and don't break that often.....the shim kit is super important, I have yet to see a stock T-maxx have the diffs shimmed for maxximum performance.....that's agood place to start while your building up again.....after those items it's prefference and wallet that limit you......if you plan on racing at all there will be a lot more goodies to look at and decide on....

Oh well Jesse beat me to tha punch.....good stuff

While you have it apart, seal the backplate and carb throat with RTV, and ziptie your air filter on before you run again.

lol thats cool Plaid, you where reading my mind hehe or the other way around. Man I wish I could have kept my Maxx :(. Oh well I will get another one someday
