TMAXX with .15, need drop in replacement

Hi I have a TMAXX with a .15 engine, hasnt ran in over 10+ years. In process of restoring, in my research two engines pop up -

• TRX 2.5R - https://traxxas.com/products/parts/5207R
• Dynamite .19T Mach 2 - https://www.horizonhobby.com/produc...ehicle platforms that use the EZ-start system.

Are these both drop in replacements for the .15? Would getting the TRX 2.5R be preferred over the Dynamite?

Trx2.5 and 3.3 are direct replacements. The dynamite should be also. The dynamite is my next engine.

The pro .15 and the dynamite have aluminum carbs. The 2.5 and 3.3 are plastic and prone to tuning issues.

I just dropped a 3.3 into my .15. You need the .15 to 2.5 conversion kit from traxxas. If you have an ez-start, you will need the 2.5/3.3 ez-start, the .15 will not fit. Conversion was easy, there is a step where you need to drill into the chassis for the throttle bell crank. The bell crank comes with a philips screw, I couldnt get it on tight enough without the head beginning to strip, I replaced that screw with a hex head screw, works perfect. Just follow the break in procedures, keep an extra glow plug or two on hand, mine blew at the 4th tank, expected.
