I am trying to decide whether to go with the tmaxx or sportmaxx. i have been told that they are pretty much the same truck once you add the 4wd and 2 speed tranny. i am just wondering if this is true or not. cuz i will save around 50.00 by getting the sportmaxx and putting the 4wd and 2 speed tranny in it.

It depends on what you will be using it for.
T Maxx 4x4, obviously for climbing and some handling characteristics and it's less expensive than converting a Sport to a T Maxx.

Sport Maxx for the quicker response times, less rotating mass.

Other than the 4WD feature I believe they are the same truck.

Not to sound Rude or Mean but if your worried about saving 50 bucks your in the wrong hobby. You need pretty deep pockets to stay in the nitro or the RC game for that matter. I would just go with the T maxx if your going to do alot of climbing if you’re just looking for speed get the sport Maxx. Good Luck!

I have to agree with the $50 statement. first time you hit a puddle that is too deep, smash into a tree, parked car, another rc car, your own leg, really big rock, mailbox, etc.... at full speed it wont be the cheapest thing in the world.

well i hate to say it but i am getting a savage. i was leanin towards the mxx till i talked to my lhs. they said for racing get the tmaxx for durabiliuty get the savage. he told me the savaga is the only truck that could take on a semi in a parking lot doing 45mph and come out with a broken bulkhead

going 45 mph and hitting a semi truck and just braking bulkhead?? that sounds kinda wrong. dont get me wrong or anything but i dont think that any MT would have came out with just a broken bulkhead!

was it just a broken bulkhead or was it first time he saw a savage break a bulkhead. all i know was his truck was still sitting level o the floor
well he said the savage was about 3 times more durable than the t-maxx. i was really opting towards the maxx but i would rather pay a lil more for the savage ss kit and get something more durable than save a few bucks and have to spend the money i saved and then some on hop up parts to repair the broken ones. doubt i will be hitting too much stuff though. got a lil over an acre to run it.

hhmmmm....... alright, trust me, at my grandpas farm with over 3,000 acres of land. u will find something to hit!!lol

Buy a t maxx, it comes with the 4wd and 2speed, its just easier

I hit my own mailbox going about 15 to 20 mph and I broke my lower right a arm cracked my bulkhead. So I am pretty sure if he hit a semi at 45 mph, he broke a little more then just a bulkhead, I would think anyway. I agree with H2MAXX, buy a T Maxx, just spend a little more and get some RPM Hoppups, like a arms and bulkheads and bulkhead braces. If you do get a Savage, run it into a semi and see what you brake, HA HA HA!

45mph and hitting a semi breaking just a bulk head... only if he hits the wheel yeah.. but straight on... good bye... I have a savage.. and if you are a newbie to this hobby... I guaruntee you will break at least every part.. no matter what truck you get...

Newbies getting a Savage 25 most commonly broken:

One way bearing (improrper use of the rotostart)
Lower Arms
Bulk head
shocks
bent bog bone
S-25 engine (not breaking in the engine)

Only thing why it is said the Savage is more durbable is because of the main chasis is better than any truck out there.. but you can still break something..

I bet you that you are going to break either a bulk head or arms less than a week... everyone has done it... no one can run away from it... but the only Aluminum parts you should get if its a savage is Aluminum Lower Arms and Bulk head.. AT THE SAME TIME.. if you don't you'll break one or the other... so don't worry about $50... you are probably going to invest in another $300 on it

Just wondering....but does your LHS carry or support the T-Maxx. If not, he is just promoting what he does sell. Use this forum and do your own research then decide. Although if your LHS is your main source of parts and they only support the savage and not the Maxx. You may want to go with the Savage. Like others have said, you will break parts and will want to upgrade. This is one expensive hobby to be in.

The Maxx is a good truck, the Savage is a good truck. If either one hit anything at 45MPH, the only parts not broken will be in the back.

Only a broken bulkhead......yeah right.
